Abington Friends Meeting 03.01.2021

BLM Vigil, Food Collection & Voter Registration Drive: Our Sunday 4 PM protest has become a weekly Black Lives Matter vigil and voter registration/mail in ballot drive. We now have voter registration forms and mail in ballot applications. If you can’t join us in our vigil, stop by our voter information table. We gather every Sunday at 4 PM as a weekly event, until further notice, at the Abington Friends Triangle (Meetinghouse and Jenkintown Roads). All participants must use safe distancing, and masks are required. We will continue to collect food at the vigil, and the food will be delivered to the Germantown Crisis Ministry.

Abington Friends Meeting 10.12.2020

I watched the latest Quaker Speaks video on History and Continuing Revelation and in it the speaker talked about youngering, a concept first mentioned by Canby Jones. He defined it as the wisdom imparted by those who are younger than you. That's what I saw today when some of our youth participated in the Bell Tolling Ceremony for black lives that have been lost to police brutality and white supremacy. As a meeting we have much to learn from our youth and I am looking forward to learning from them as they share their wisdom with us.
