A $225 million grant program was announced yesterday to support small businesses that were impacted by the COVID-19 public health crisis and the governor's busi...ness closure order. The funding is being distributed to the state’s 17 Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), which will then administer the funding in the form of grants through the following programs: $100 million for the Main Street Business Revitalization Program for small businesses. $100 million for the Historically Disadvantaged Business Revitalization Program. $25 million for the Loan Payment Deferment and Loss Reserve Program. Eligible businesses will be able to use the grants to cover operating expenses during the shutdown and transition to re-opening, and for technical assistance including training and guidance for business owners as they stabilize and relaunch their businesses. So if you have difficulty accessing the site, be sure to try again. For tips and a link to the application, click here. https://www.uc.pa.gov/unemployment-b//Filing-for-PUA.aspx (From this page, scroll to the bottom and click on the blue "File for PUA" button.)

The federal CARES Act requires federal student loan payments, principal and interest be deferred for six months through Sept. 30, 2020, without penalty to the s...tudent. This provides relief for over 95% of student loan borrowers. The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) is also helping students by making temporary modifications to its programs to ensure students won’t see a disruption or reduction of aid. 'Benefits for the Self-Employed' PA State Rep. Clint Owlett 1 hr Self-employed workers have been among the hardest hit financially by COVID-19 mitigation efforts. The federal CARES Act makes it possible for self-employed and independent contractors to receive unemployment and increases benefits by adding $600 per week for up to four months. Read more here: https://online.flippingbook.com/view/1045126/2/#zoom=z... PLEASE NOTE: We’ve been advised by the federal Department of Labor that a separate, manually processed application will be necessary for this program. You should wait until that separate application is available to apply for benefits. If you apply through the regular UC system, your claim will be rejected. I’ll be sure to share updates as they become available.
