Finished up another special chassis for a local Manx Club member! This chassis has a few special modifications done to it at his request! For starters, he requested that we did not put any bolt cups in his chassis to give him a smoother bottom rail. The chassis also has a set of torsion adjusters installed to make adjusting the rear suspension just a bit easier. Of course, he also requested a Fuchsia Metal flake floor pan to match his Fuchsia Metal Flake Classic Manx kit! It's Fiberglass Friday so we thought that we would share another update on the Class Act Racing's DSBE... Tyler has been working hard to get everything worked out including the radiator and wing, started to lay out all of the dash taking all the measurements for the window nets and mounting all the lighting that the DSBE will need to see well while running the race this April... Many of you have heard us talking about going to the NORRA1000 with Bad News Racing but many of you have not seen the car that we intend to take to Baja. We have been hard at work modifying our "Monster" A-arm long travel rail that we built a few years ago, the biggest modification is that we have completely eliminated the A-Arm front suspension in order to put a + 14" link pin beam suspension set up in the front. We also added and upgraded a few different things including u...pgrading to electric power steering and,we also have added a few new tubes to the roll cage for re enforcement, as well as side nerf bars In just a few weeks, when we have the chassis completed, we will be taking it to fellow BNR member Joe Wheeler's where it will be fitted with it's Meyers Manx Body so that it can race in the same class with all the amazing Meyers Manx DSBE (Dual Sport Baha Edition) cars. This includes Class Act Racings' DSBE which is being assembled in the work bay right beside the "Monster". We are now going to be offering Mystic Lake as a color that you can ask for when ordering your chassis for floor pan with no upcharge... Mystic lake has a grey base color with both silver and blue flakes in it... Over the past few months, we have been work on making our buggies more identifiable... A few months back we shared the body badges that we now stock so you can show your pride in the fact that you have a Berrien Buggy... we now have Serial Number plates that come with all bodies that leave our Shop! For #FiberglassFriday we thought that we update you all on "The Great Mistake" Nostalgia that we sold back at the beginning of August... Well, Dan has been working hard at getting this buggy done and out on the road! This body was popped out of the mold and came from our fiberglass shop to showroom mid-July, was picked up the very beginning of August by Faron of 109 Dune Buggies, and taken back to Texas for Dan... Now less then four months later, Dan has a beautiful one of a ...kind buggy! The most exciting part is that as of just yesterday, Dans "Great Mistake" Buggy is now officially LEGAL to drive on the streets in Texas! From what I've heard, Dan is planning on taking advantage of that fact this weekend while cruising with Faron and some other buggy friends who all have street legal buggies in Texas! Ever since we released our Shortened-wheelbase (80-inch wheelbase) GTX chassis, we have been asked if and when we are going to be making a long-wheelbase (94.5-inch wheelbase) chassis... Well, we have some great news for you! The Prototype GTX chassis is finished and we have started to assemble it to the point of a rolling chassis so that we can send it out to our Dealer, Pat, at Rails & Off-Road Repair (who has built many buggies including the first Nostalgia GTX) to have th...e build completed for us... We know it seems odd that the Prototype GTX+ is being built by anyone but ourselves, but there are multiple different reasons for this one of which is that we would like to make sure that this car is buildable by a dealer/customer outside of our shop will be able to build the buggy and due to the great working relationship that we have with Pat we know that it will go smoothly and if there are any issues he will let us know and work with us to fix it... and with us being as swamped as we are in our own shop there is no way for us to work on all the customers and get the GTX+ done in a reasonable amount of time... Some of you may remember us talking about this Corvair powered Avenger GT a few months back... well after finishing the original job we gave him a list of the things that we saw that would need attention in the future as we do with all of the cars... One of the things that we pointed out was that although the rake of the car looked perfect, his front suspension set up was sitting on its bump stops which made for a very rough ride... Well the 2020 edition of Bugs by the River is in the books. This one was, without a doubt, the best one ever. I would like to thank all of the folks who showed up with their cars to display. The many people who came to look at a wonderful group of cars, and buy parts. I also have to give a big thank you to the Manx Club members who showed up, camped out, and generally had a good time. You guys are the best. Thanks Andy, Jeff, & Rod, I know you guys worked hard to mak...e the wonderful turn out of buggies happen. To also have Manx Club president Mike Dario and his wife Lori Ann show up was super special. They were a long way from their Simi Valley, Ca. home. Several folks thanked me for the great show, but the truth is it wasn’t me. I had the best help a man could ask for working with me. To my wife Barb Mickle, Bob & Pam Bennett, John Lenz & Kelly Mcjunkins, Dan Mickle, Tyler Imschweiller, Anthony Getty, Cherice Mickle Swick, and Morgan Mickle, my 12 year old granddaughter, who jumped in and worked like a seasoned trooper.
