To sleep like this, calmly and safely is a pleasure not extended to all Americans nor all human beings. The recent events have enlightened me to my white privilege and how destructive it is to ignore the fact that millions of people fall asleep scared every night. This MUST STOP! So, I am examining my own prejudices and privilege so that I may change my own behavior, call out others, properly educate my kids and actively make a difference in this humanitarian struggle. Along ...with this self-reflection is a desire to support those organizations that have already been doing this work and will continue to fight for Black Lives Matter, stop police brutality and help those who are disadvantaged. So I have pledged continuous financial support to an amazing organization here in Pittsburgh called 1Hood Media. Please check them out @1hoodmedia and see how they understand the importance of art and how it incorporates into their social work. I am amazed ! At Advanced Ocular Prosthetics I have always tried to create a safe place for every person to feel comfortable with both their eye loss but also their identity. This will never change. Soft Opening Hello Patients! It is with great pleasure that I announce the soft reopening of AOP! With Gov. Wolf moving Allegheny County to phase yellow tomorrow Friday May 15th, I am scheduling appointments again, with a strict social distancing/sanitation protocol in place as required by the CDC and Pa Dept. of Health. In order to make an appointment, please call or email the office and Lynn will be happy to get you on the schedule. But please be aware that we are limitin...g the number of patients being seen in a day and limiting the days that patients are being scheduled. We greatly appreciate your flexibility while we work through this. We are also requiring that patients wait in their vehicles until they are called in for their appointment and of course, masks must be worn. And please do not bring anyone into the building with you unless it is medically necessary. As well, you can expect me to call you to discuss any issues you may be having prior to your appointment to limit our face to face time. If you are sick and having issues with your prosthesis, please call the office and we will make arrangements to make sure your needs are met. Covid-19 Update Hello Patients, Due to the spread of Cov-Sars-2, I am implementing new office policies effective immediately. ... I will continue to see patients but strictly on an as-needed basis. If you are having issues, please do not hesitate to come in to see me. BUT if you do not need to come in now, please stay home and reschedule your appointment. If you are sick, please stay home and reschedule your appointment. If you reschedule a polish promotion appointment, the price will be honored for one year. Of course, extreme measures of office cleanliness have been implemented. However, in an effort to abide by social distancing I am asking that all patients wait in their vehicles until I come get you. This is especially important during the polish promotion when the office can be quite busy. Just call or text the office to let us know you are here.
