inspired by tradition...backed by science . The word (aithr) in Homeric Greek means "pure, fresh air" or "clear sky". In Greek mythology, it was to be the pure essence that the gods breathed...filling the space where they lived...analogous to the air breathed by mortals. . Aithr was oneof the three "airs". The middle air was ‘aer’ or ‘khaos’...a colourless mist which enveloped the mortal world. The lower air was erebos...the mists of darkness...which envelop...ed the dark places beneath the earth + the realm of the dead. The 3rd was the upper air of Aithr, the mist of light + blue of the heavenly ether. Aithr enveloped the mountain peaks + clouds + stars + sun + moon . Aithr is physically embodied by a primordial deity.. god of light + the bright, blue ether of the heavens. In the evening his mother, Nyx, draws her dark veil across the sky, obscuring the ether + bringing night...in the morning, his sister Hemera disperses night's mist to reveal the shining blue ether of day . In the photo above, Aithr is depicted on the Pergamon Alter in battle w/ a lion-headed giant. This is one of the only known depictions of Aithr.
