Within Alcoa's Sustana line, EcoLum aluminum is produced with less than 4.0 metric tons of CO2e for every ton of metal created, including both direct and indirect emissions across the entire production chain counting the bauxite mining and alumina refining stages. This performance is approximately three and a half times better than the industry average. Learn how this product helps our customers and company Advance Sustainably: https://bit.ly/2GPRSRF

Alcoa’s ASI-certified Mosjøen smelter in Norway has successfully completed trials to increase the plant’s capability to cast complex Cu- and Mg-containing foundry alloys used for automotive parts. Notably, our proprietary alloy EZCast-NHT, commonly used for automotive structural parts, like shock towers and battery trays, can be used in an as cast state, without expensive and time-consuming heat treatments typically necessary before creating parts from the metal.

Employees from Alcoa’s Kwinana Refinery in Western Australia recently hit the beach but not to swim. The team made the most of the gorgeous spring weather in Perth to collect more than 1,500 pieces or 30kgs (about 60 lbs) of rubbish and important data in the process. The data will be used to shape policy and support community initiatives on how to reduce waste. The project has been running for over a decade and is part of our long-standing partnership with natural resource management program partner Perth NRM.
