Employee Spotlight: Jesus Almonte, Rockville, VA Plant Operator Jesus has been running asphalt plants for 14 years, six of them with Allan Myers. He has operated multiple plants in our southern Virginia region and been a major part of our new start ups and growth the past five years. He can run any piece equipment at any plant in the region. He is considered the Swiss Army Knife of the Myers toolbox, and is a huge asset to our team. Both Jesus and recent spotlight, Jose..., both take great pride in keeping their work place clean and organized, achieving exceptional extreme housekeeping scores. They have been running the Rockville plant days 6 days/week for the last 3-4 months, sometimes with 4-5 mixes. Employee Spotlight: Jose Coronado, Rockville, VA Plant Operator Jose started at Rockville as a ground guy nearly 16 years ago. Now our longest tenured plant operator in Virginia, he makes things possible when they seems impossible. He always seems to pull a rabbit out of the hat; 2500-3000 tons and 3-4 mixes never seem to be an issue for him. Michelle Mills: Michelle is a QC Asphalt Technician at our Powhatan and Petersburg locations, starting in October 2020. Michelle is outstanding with testing procedures and exemplary in the support of Extreme Housekeeping. Becka Webber: Becka is a QC Asphalt Technician at New Kent and Chesapeake. Becka started... with Allan Myers in July of 2020. Becka picked up the procedures very quickly and is VDOT Level 1 Certified and working on Level 2. Aleksandra Wojcik: Aleks is our QC Manager for Materials in VA. Aleks started with Allan Myers March 2020. Aleks’ leadership and knowledge have taken our QC team to new levels of excellence. The team at our Fredericksburg, VA asphalt plant has been busy this winter! To better service our Virginia partners, we have replaced our two 200 ton silos with three brand new 275 ton Meeker silos.

On day two of Women in Construction Week, we introduce Lynne Marriner. Lynne started her journey with Allan Myers in 2018. Lynne primarily operates a 40G Volvo Rock Truck for projects in Maryland. Field Manager, Jerusha Swecker, says of Lynne:... "Lynne understands how and what needs to be done to meet our production goals and she will jump in to help where needed, whether it be helping out with end of shift responsibilities or jumping on a roller to help prep for a weather event. Lynne is always looking out for others with great communication throughout the day." Lynne enjoys traveling, camping, riding her motorcycle, swimming and boating. This is Women in Construction Week. Allan Myers is fortunate to employ some of the very best! Leslie Schilling is a driver based in PA. Recently she was faced with an unprecedented challenge while on her way to work. She acted quickly and saved the lives of two elderly motorists. Leslie was traveling westbound on the route 30 Bypass near Downingtown, PA when she encountered a vehicle traveling at her head on. She began to slow, activated the strobes and warning lights, and... was able to bring the traffic to a stop. Recognizing that the elderly couple in the vehicle appeared confused, she exited her truck and approached the couple. They allowed her to turn their vehicle around and pull it off the adjacent ramp on to a side road. Police arrived and she returned to her duties. I am thankful for the training I have received at Myers. I think of my family, friends, co-workers and how much I love working here. Nothing is more important than making sure everyone I encounter daily goes home safe to their family and loved ones - even the people I encounter on the roads that are behaving in an unsafe manner.
