We got some great before-and-after photos from a Gratekeeper today; what a mess! More often than not, the trash we're cleaning up from storm drains has been blown there by the wind or washed into the drain by the rain, but this looks like a textbook case of a street corner in need of a trash can to me! Our human brains don't feel great about littering, and we're usually self-conscious enough to not do it if we think we're being watched. Another, crummier part of our brains tell us that littering isn't so bad if we put the trash 'away' somewhere. A storm drain isn't a trash can, and the "away" is the river! Whenever you're out and about, it you see a mess that looks like it could be easily remedied by the presence of a garbage can, please give 311 a heads up! Submitting a service request to 311 is a big help in the fight against litter.

2020 has been quite a year. And while it will most likely be remembered for the bad things, our crew wanted to share some stories of the good. Like the time Dani and the DumpBusters crew were cleaning up a large dumpsite in Lincoln-Lemington when they found... kittens!
