Allegheny County Police Department 22.03.2021

The Allegheny County Police Department's Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in Wilkinsburg. At approximately 9:24 pm on February 25th, 2021, County 911 was notified of a shooting in the 1500 block of Montier St. First responders found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The male was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition. Homicide detectives initiated an investigation. Allegheny County Police Department 19.03.2021

On February 25th around 6:44 am, TSA screeners observed a loaded .22 handgun within a passenger’s purse at the main security checkpoint of Pittsburgh International Airport and alerted Allegheny County Police of their finding. County Police were able to determine that the 62-year-old female passenger possessed a valid concealed carry permit and inadvertently left the firearm in her purse. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified, and the passenger was permitted to fly. At this time, charges are not expected to be filed by County Police. The firearm is in the possession of County Police.

Allegheny County Police Department 10.03.2021

On February 18, 2021, Stowe Township police responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street for a welfare check. When they arrived, they discovered a 55-year-old male and a 47- year-old female deceased. The victims were in decomposition and it was not readily apparent what caused their death. Stowe Township Police requested the assistance of the County Police Homicide Unit and detectives responded to the scene. Detectives along with the Allegheny County Crime Lab Mobile Crime Un...it were able to determine the victims were shot. Through the investigation, detectives determined that 60-year-old Timothy Gumm was responsible for the homicide of his brother and his brother’s girlfriend. Timothy Gumm will be charged with two counts of criminal homicide and one count of person not to possess a firearm. Gumm will be transported to the Allegheny County Jail where he will be housed awaiting arraignment. Allegheny County Police Department 01.01.2021

On January 7, 2021 at approximately 7:08 p.m., detectives assigned to the Allegheny County Police Violent Crime and Firearms squad were patrolling in a three-officer unmarked vehicle. The officers observed Matthew S. Diggs Jr. walking in the 1000 block of Middle Avenue in Wilmerding. When the officers observed Diggs, he appeared to be armed. The officers drove past Diggs and stopped their vehicle. Two of the officers exited the vehicle in order to speak with him. The officers... identified themselves to Diggs both verbally and by police markings on their outer clothing. Diggs immediately opened fire at the officers with a handgun, striking the police vehicle. Two of the officers returned fire and Diggs fled the area on foot. Neither Diggs or the officers were struck by gunfire. A search of the area was conducted by officers from multiple agencies. At approximately 7:48 p.m., Diggs was located in the 900 block of Sycamore Street in Turtle Creek. Diggs was apprehended and transported to Allegheny County Police Headquarters. Diggs, 20, is being charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a police officer and a firearm violation. Allegheny County Police Department 13.12.2020

On January 6, 2021 at 12:51 a.m., Wilkinsburg Police and paramedics were called to the 1300 block of Franklin Avenue in Wilkinsburg for a 15-year-old male that was shot. When police and paramedics arrived, they discovered the victim deceased inside a residence. Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. Detectives learned three juvenile males were handling a firearm when the firearm discharged striking the victim. Detectives are in consultation with the District Attorney’s Office and are continuing the investigation. Allegheny County Police Department 03.12.2020

The Allegheny County Police Department's Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in Stowe Township. At approximately 4:31 am on December 5, 2020, County 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in the area of Tunnel Way and Island Avenue. First responders found a 22-year-old female shot in the upper torso. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives later discovered a second victim, a 53-year-old male, suffered a non-life threatening grazing wound to the leg. Evidence at the scene suggests the deceased victim was not the intended target. Homicide detectives are initiating the investigation. The Allegheny County Police Department's Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in Penn Hills. At approximately 11:08 p.m. on January 5, 2021, County 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in the 400 block of Fielding Drive. First responders found a 21-year-old male shot inside his vehicle. The victim was taken to an area hospital were he was pronounced deceased. Homicide detectives are initiating the investigation. Allegheny County Police Department 29.11.2020

The Allegheny County Police Department's Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in Baldwin Township. At approximately 2:57 PM on November 29th, County 9-1-1 was notified of a 2-year-old male accidental strangulation in the 2000 block of Jameson Drive. First responders arrived at the scene and performed life saving measures. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Homicide detectives initiated an investigation and determined the child was accidentally hung by a pull cord for a set of blinds near the child’s crib. The Allegheny County Police Department's Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in McKees Rocks. At approximately 10:34 pm on November 24th, County 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in the 900 block of 3rd street. First responders found a 27 year old male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the hip. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. On October 20, 2019, Wilkinsburg Police and paramedics responded to the 500 block of Jeanette Street for three people shot. When they arrived, they discovered 22-year-old Mager Rainey deceased and two adult females suffering from non-life threating gunshot wounds. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined the following individuals were responsible for the homicide. Herbert Lee Walker III, a 24-year-old male, is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assa...ult, criminal attempt homicide and criminal conspiracy. Kenya Harper, a 25-year-old female, is charged with criminal homicide and criminal conspiracy. Walker and Harper are in custody at the Allegheny County Jail. An arrest warrant was issued for Jeremiah Ligon, 22, for criminal homicide and criminal conspiracy. Ligon is known to frequent the Penn Hills and Wilkinsburg areas. The Allegheny County Police Department's Homicide Unit has responded to a request for assistance in Penn Hills. At approximately 7:47 pm on January 4, 2021, County 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in the 8800 block of Marion Way. First responders found a 47-year-old male shot multiple times. The victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Homicide detectives are initiating the investigation. The Allegheny County Police Department is once again, partnering with the Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League and participating in the "Stuff-A-Store" initiative. Stuff-A-Store accepts donated new, unwrapped toys and distributes them to local police departments, who make sure that they go to underprivileged children in Allegheny County. Team Foster is a 501,3(c) that raises awareness and money to provide service animals to wounded warriors. Today, Allegheny County Police Department's Crime Prevention/Community Relations officer, Officer Joe, was honored to escort this team on their 100 mile bicycle ride which began in Oil City, PA, from the Butler County/Allegheny County line to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Oakland. The Allegheny County Police Department's General Investigations Unit responded to a request for assistance in Stowe Township. At approximately 736 pm on October 27, County 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in the 700 block of Broadway Ave. First responders found one adult victim suffering from an injury to a lower extremity. The victim was transported to an area hospital. ACPD detectives are initiating the investigation and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office, Mobile Crime Lab, will assist with crime scene processing. On October 23, 2020 at 12:12 a.m., Penn Hills Police and paramedics were called to the 200 block of Curtis Street for a male shot. When first responders arrived, they discovered a 20-year-old male shot. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he died. Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. Detectives learned the victim, along with two other individuals, attended a Halloween party on Curtis... Street. As the victim and the two other individuals left the party, they were met by gunfire. A Dodge Charger attempted to flee the area and crashed into a tree. This vehicle was abandoned, and detectives are attempting to determine the occupants. DON'T BE THE DEALER! The Allegheny County Police Department is participating in the DEA's "National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day" this Saturday, October 24th, 2020. Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to potential accidental poisoning, misuse and overdose. A 2018 study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family or friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. Proper disposal of unused drugs saves... lives and protects the environment. There will be an officer standing-by at each of the following police stations on Saturday from 10am-2pm, where you can drop-off unused medications for proper disposal. The Allegheny County Police Department's Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in Edgewood. At approximately 11:25 am on October 17, 2020, County 9-1-1 was notified of an unresponsive male in the 1700 block of S. Braddock Ave. First responders found the same. The victim, an adult male, was pronounced dead on scene. At this time, no foul play is suspected. Homicide detectives are initiating the investigation.
