Join us for Our Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. from Hazen UMC. Join via Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/GSUMP/), Conference Call number 1 (205) 825-9885 from your automobile in Hazen UMC parking lot through FM channel 100.1. Have a light source prepared for the end of the service (candle, flashlight, lantern, cell phone ect). As we end the service we will celebrate the light that overcomes the darkness and take the light of Christ into the world by taking our lights outside our homes while singing the first verse of Joy To The World.

Sisters and brothers in Christ, After consulting the Parish leadership concerning our services and concerns about the COVID-19 global crisis we want to share with you how we are responding to the crisis. First, we do not foresee any drastic changes in the life of any of our churches, at least not in the immediate future. ... What we are doing is best described as practicing common sense. We will ask our greeters, our worshipers, our Sunday School teachers, et al to refrain from any physical contact (hugs, shaking hands, high-fives, etc) with one another and any visitors. We will offer hand sanitizer to all who visit with us. For receiving the offering most of our churches have the ushers handle the offering plates rather than pass the plates from person to person. We will continue with those practices but will also have a collection plate stationed in the narthex before the service for those who wish to place their offering before they take their seat. Alternatively, they may come forward during the normal time for receiving the offering and place their gifts in the plate positioned at the communion rail. As of this moment we will not be canceling any of our worship services, that also includes Sunday night Lenten services and Bible studies. If circumstances change and more comprehensive steps are appropriate we will inform you promptly. We do encourage anyone that is feeling sick with any cold/flu symptoms to please stay home. If you have been taking any kind of treatments that may compromise your immune system please take precautions and follow medical advise. For those of you that chose to not attend services in person I invite you to join us on Facebook Sunday Mornings at 11 for the Facebook Live broadcast of the Hazen UMC service. You can follow this link to the Parish page the view the service live and view past services- https://www.facebook.com/GSUMP/?view_public_for=959955610879770 Our prayer is that no one else contracts this virus and that those who have it are able to be restored to health quickly. Our trust is in the Lord that we might be spared the burden of an illness which has caused so much fear and anxiety. God's got this -- always has, always will -- so be smart and safe as you go about your day, keeping in touch with the Holy Spirit. As ever, in Christ Jesus, Pastor Rick
