Allentown Central Catholic Little Vikings

Little Vikes parents, First off, I hope you all enjoyed your holidays. I want to start off and say that I do appreciate your patience the last couple months as we have continued through uncertain times as we have for most of 2020. It was finally decided this past league meeting that the VEWL season would not happen for this year. Unfortunately the delay of a decision was caused by waiting to see if a season could be made possible even with a late start. But with the unce...rtainty happening at the high school sports level, and the increased cases of Covid creeping up this past month, the league decided that they could no longer see a season possible even with a start in January and trying to have a month, maybe two of wrestling. There was also a lot of discussions as to the procedures that would be needed in order to have a wrestling season and most importantly, keep the children and the parents and any fans safe. I am looking at the possibility of trying to secure a location and have maybe a month of "get together’s" where the children can go over basic skills as a refresher just to keep the Wrestling on their mind and not lose things from last year or years past. If that seems to be a possibility as we look at the next few months and maybe even into spring, I will be sure to communicate that information as soon as possible. While I do really appreciate your participation and support of our past wrestling seasons, I hope that you will still consider staying apart of the little Vikes family into next year. if there’s any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

I realize that this is about the time of year when you’re starting to get the info on the upcoming wrestling season as well as when we would hold the weekend clinics In a few meetings with the league, there is a huge amount of uncertainty as to what the upcoming season will hold. With the league and many coaches in the area hopeful that we will still be able to have a season, there is talk that it would not start until January. There seems to be a lot of wait and see on what... the high school teams are going to be able to do as far as practices and matches. While I understand that many parents may not even feel comfortable having a season, I would like to find out if your child would wrestle if we started in January. If the season ends up to be canceled, I would still like to see you continue to wrestle for Allentown Central Catholic Little Vikes and come out again next year to continue with the program. As some of you have heard, and even already reached out, we lost one of our wrestling family. Coach Chris Crilley passed away unexpectedly this past weekend. Chris was a great man, father and friend. Chris would give you the shirt off his back if he felt like you needed it more. Many of you have crossed paths with him and know just how great of a person he was, and how dedicated he was to whatever his task was at that given time. If you are interested in wanting to help his family during this trying time a meal train has been set up. If unable to participate and would still like to help, your thoughts and prayers are always appreciated. Life is too short.
