It’s Furry Fact Friday! Did you know cats rarely get enough moisture in their diets? Dry kibble contains around 10% moisture while raw food contains up to 80%. A moisture rich diet is important for keeping cats’ kidneys healthy. It is also the most biologically appropriate way to feed your cat. Consider incorporating some raw food into your cat’s diet. There are a variety of food and treat options available. Start their new year off on the right paw with a healthy diet addition or change.

It’s Furry Fact Friday! Have you finished your holiday shopping for your pets? We are here to remind you to always choose American made and sourced treats. Stay away from any rawhide for your dog. There are much healthier alternatives such as bully sticks, No-Hides and antlers. When buying treats and toys, be sure they are larger than your pets’ mouth to avoid choking hazards. Trying to purchase toys made in the USA, when possible. Planet Dog and West Paw are two great American companies. We hope you and your family have a happy and healthy holiday season!
Dylan went to heaven today. He was my first baby. Now all of our original dogs are gone. It’s just us and the puppies.
It's Furry Fact Friday! It’s that time of year again to make sure our dogs are safe on their walkies. If they are young, old, have little fur or are just sensitive to the cold like Pablo here, invest in a coat. We choose waterproof ones so we can walk in any weather. It is important to use a paw protectant such as Musher’s Secret if you walk on salted areas. Paw protectant keeps your pets’ paws safe from dangerous chemicals used in road and sidewalk salt and keeps ice balls from sticking to their paws, causing them discomfort. It is easy, safe and does not stain floors or furniture. So bundle up and get some exercise!
It’s Furry Fact Friday! Have you heard of the Schipperke breed? The Schipperke is a small Belgian dog breed that originated in the 16th century. Although there has been a long debate whether they are a type of Spitz or mini sheepdog, in Belgium they are considered a small Shepherd. They average between 12 and 13 inches tall, weigh 6 to 19 pounds. Their average lifespan is 13 to 15 years. They are always a solid color- either black or blonde, with a shiny double coat. Schipperkes are smart and independent and can challenge their owners. They have a high prey drive and lots of energy, making them great at agility and obedience competitions. Meet Bubba the Schipperke! He lives with Rae, and is a junior chief taste tester for The Rollaway Dog Cafe!

It's furry fact Friday! Thanksgiving is upon us and we’re talking turkey. While turkey is a healthy protein for dogs and cats, turkey fat, skin and cooked turkey bones can be dangerous for your pets. If you want to share some of your Thanksgiving feast with your pets be sure to avoid foods high in fat, sugar and salt. You can share mashed sweet potatoes but do not share the candied yams. We wish you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Remember to count your blessings! Photo credit: Pinterest
