I started reading the news articles about the stock market at 4 AM today. I found it very interesting that every "expert" knows exactly what is going to happen. However, the problem is...they all have very diverse opinions. As a country, we continue to produce less and less. Common sense will point out that less production equals less manufacturing related jobs. Currently, most of our manufacturing is centered around the production of energy and light steel. Coal burnin...g power plants have been shut down in mass and therefore, the jobs tied to those plants have been lost. Natural gas production has greatly curtailed. Even in the states that were flourishing with the recent boom in production, you will notice all the hotels that were filled with workers are now vacant, and much of the equipment is sitting idle. Also, the support for the shale gas and oil increase and fell dramatically. The steel industry faces the same downturn. Take a look at the scrap yards; scrap is piled sky high as it is not being used in manufacturing. And finally, gas and oil production: I know you don't want to hear this, but oil is too cheap to benefit from producing it and therefore, more jobs are being lost. Not to put salt in an open wound, but as the manufacturing jobs diminish, so do the jobs that were vital in the support and the distribution of those products. You don't have to know anything about China or about interest rates going up. Just look around and you will witness the slowing of the industrial sector of our economy. These changes are leading to uncertainty in the stock market. There are great places to invest your money where you enjoy the upside of the market but not the downside. If you take advantage of these opportunities like my clients do, you will not have to worry about what is going on in the stock market.
