Althouse Arboretum

Our contribution to "Throwback Thursday". Here are some pictures of us clearing out invasive plants and creating the entrance and parking area where anyone can park to walk our trails and where so many will be dropping off their Christmas Trees this weekend to be recycled! Time to give your Christmas tree a second purpose! This weekend GreenAllies students will be waiting for you at the Althouse Arboretum (1794 Gilbertsville Rd, Pottstown) to take your tree for recycling. The event is free, but cash donations are accepted. SATURDAY and SUNDAY 9am to 3pm!

Volunteers we need you! This Sunday, October 25 the Althouse Arboretum is looking for volunteers to help with a clean-up and tree planting event! Come out in the morning from 9 until 12 to help plant trees and clean up the property. We are especially in need of help cleaning up our small organic farm later that day from 1 to 4pm. The votes have been counted... for the winners of our first-ever family SCARECROW MAKING workshop and contest! Thank you to all the 22 families that participated this year. It was so much fun! So, after public voting period, the GreenAllies student leaders counted up all the votes the grand prize winner was #5 "Scary Steve" who came out in front of our other two runner-ups: #15 and #17. Great job everyone!

We added another day to our special Family Halloween Adventure Hike! Come out TODAY (Sun) between 3 and 6 pm for a "create your own adventure" hike along with games, marshmallow roast, crafts and more. Only $10 per family. Our famous Family Halloween Adventure Hike is coming up THIS Sat/Sun October 17/18. This year's adaptation is designed as a safe, socially distanced family event. Come out and enjoy solving the mystery of who stole Perry the Pirate's portrait by creating your own adventure on our trails. Afterwards, return for games, crafts, food and fun! Come out this Friday between 4 and 7 for our Farmers Market and you can also vote for your favorite scarecrow! We have over 20 on display made by local children and their families. Votes are $1 with all the money going toward prizes for the winning families.
