Having heros is of utmost importance in living an aligned purposeful life. Selfless service and sacrifice demonstrated by men like SGM Payne are some of the qualities that inspire me. What inspires you to live better??

This flag hangs in Altus. It was carried by special operations forces on a direct action mission overseas to capture the type of evil men who aim to commit atrocities against the innocent, invoking terror. Everyone says "Never Forget"... But what do you remember? Do you just remember what happened? Do you remember the innocents who were killed? Do you remember the heroes of that day who gave everything to help others? Do you remember the families of the heroes who gave us their husbands, fathers, sons, wives, mothers, daughters? Do you remember what was learned from that day? Do you remember what you considered heroic on that day? Do you rember what characteristics you respected that day, and the weeks following, and wanted to emulate? To paraphrase George Orwell quoted on this certificate of gratitude.... . People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because of the good people who stand ready to fight evil on their behalf. Remember your heroes. Emulate them. #beheroic . @fittpittsburgh @bestinpgh @downtownpitt . #altushpo #altus #hpo #BeAble #morethanfit #pittsburghfitness #pittsburghboxing #fittpittsburgh #tacticaltraining #humanperformanceoptimization #mindset r #boxing #mentalperformance #pittsburgh #fitness #pittsburghfit #fitnessmotivation #pittfit #412 #personaltrainer #functionaltraining #heartratetraining #strengthtraining #strength #strong

Yesterdays lessons learned: A negative emotion that is associated with a memory is crying out for learning. Holding onto the pain until we've learned how to overcome it is hardwired into our cognitive processes so we can survive the harshness of this world. Its how our brains prevent future similar pain points. Analyze it with deep curiosity, and assimilate the lessons learned into our behaviors, turning that negative emotion and pain into a positive feeling and sense and strength.

Don't look for the next foodie cheesecake recipe, the next best car, a greater thrill or any greater pleasure. Seek challenges and sacrifices that make you, your loved ones and the world better. Then the simple pleasures will be amazing. I promise you, an apple is the sweetest, most amazing thing you've ever tasted when you go a few days without eating.
