Third week of our First Corinthians study titled Divided Heart recorded on July 21st (14th was our cookout!). Proverbs 4:23 tells us: "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it". The church in Corinth had divided hearts following their desires. We challenged each other as a group with the question of what flowed from our hearts. We discussed the topics of repentance and forgiveness and asked where our heart was leading us to today.
Second week in our First Corinthians study on 7/7 which I titled "Divided Mind". The church in Corinth was causing division among themselves because they were following people instead of following God. Often times we do the same thing. We can elevate people, our church, our traditions, or even our own expectations above God and build our faith on a shaky foundation or we can build our faith that is on the rock that is Jesus Christ.
June 30th started our series on First Corinthians with our introduction to the book and history and overview. God laid First Corinthians on my heart because the church in Corinth was a church distracted and a church gone wrong. It parallels today with modern Christians. We believe the problems that we face are "new" and "modern" but reality is that sin is an age old problem. It is important for us to look at this letter from Paul to the church in Corinth and hold that mirror up to our face today and take an honest look at ourselves.
June 23rd after God used Kevin in an incredible way to give a message on boldness we talked about persistence in prayer and boldly taking our prayers to the throne room of our awesome God. We instituted a prayer board that night and we continue to pray over it every time that we gather. Some prayers have been answered and new ones have gone up but we continue in the attitude of 1 Thessalonians 5:17 and "pray continually" believing in God's will for our prayers and a yes and amen for our lives.
So you are going to have to forgive the video dump today. I have been slacking with posting our videos from our group recently but I'm going to make that up today. This was from our session on 6/16. The week before we watched the move Case for Christ. This week we discussed the movie including evidence for our faith and no one being too far for God to reach.
We always want to encourage the group to step out into what God called them to do. On June 23rd, Kevin Busony did just that. He gave an awesome nugget on boldness. The best part was the holy spirit tied both messages together that night.
Looks like the weather may be ok for tomorrow, let's do the cookout!!! See you at the pavilion @ 7pm and bring a friend!Looks like the weather may be ok for tomorrow, let's do the cookout!!! See you at the pavilion @ 7pm and bring a friend!
If an unwelcome task is a thorn, tomorrow will not change it into a rose. If you like to procrastinate do yourself a favor and don't put off reading this.
So looks like cookout is going to rain delayed another week. Forecast says 60% so we will continue our study on First Corinthians and pray for nicer weather next week.
Looking at the weather it looks like a 60% chance of rain on Wednesday. So I think we will push the outdoor cookout to the following week.
Last night at amped we took our biggest prayers and we lifted them up to God's throne. I was really touched by the boldness of these young adults. Prayers for our lives and prayers for those we love. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to pray continually and that is what we are going to do. We are going keep praying over these until we can pull them down with a hallelujah!
Blessing of the bikes in 10 days and counting.
