This Coopers Hawk was eyeing something up while sitting there. I couldn't see anything, but it sure did!

Red-Winged Blackbird perched on a tree. I absolutely love the contrast between the red/yellow markings and their jet black bodies! Interestingly, the red markings on its shoulders are vital in the defense of its territory, but have little to do with mating. Neither the size nor the coloration are linked to the reproductive success.
