Sneaking back on here to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and announce that our fall editorial shoot was featured in print in Modern Weddings!! Head on over to my stories to see some of that goodness. But on a more serious note, wow. Christmas feels a bit different this year. I think I knew it would, but now that it’s actually here and traditions are different it just feels... a bit empty. Someone said to me earlier in the week, you know, Jesus is still the same. He’s the s...ame regardless of our circumstances. And while she wasn’t talking about Christmas, I think it still applies. Jesus is the same. Today I’m not celebrating traditions, I’m not celebrating a big Christmas get-together, I’m not even celebrating family (as wonderful as family is). I’m celebrating a savior that sees me in the middle of my messes and loves me completely; so much so that he came to earth and wrote the greatest love story imaginable with my name on it. Merry Christmas. May your day be lovely and full of truth, regardless of how different it may look and feel this year. See more

So, I’m taking some time off. From social media, that is. Every year around the holidays I see a few of the same vendors taking thirty days off Instagram to focus on their families and being present, and every year I think WOW I would love to do that but I would die.... Dramatic? Maybe a little. But I know how addicted I am to social platforms, and I knew it wasn’t going to be pretty. But this year, it just seems right. 2020 was a lot of things, and it pushed me in so many ways. As hard as it was, it also was a beautiful time of growth and rebirth and I would like to usher it out being as present as I possibly can be. Also, I have the sense that Jesus wants to be up to some big things in my heart if only I would slow down and give him the space to do them. So of course you can still reach me by email, but if you shoot me a dm I won’t be seeing it until the new year. I’ll be back on social media January 15th - have a beautiful holiday season everyone! Cute little throwback from @cultured.workshop. Wow, if there was one thing I really missed in 2020, it was workshops. I only did two this year, and cultured was definitely one I missed dearly.

I’m thinking about changing my entire business model so I can start only accepting sessions with grandmas and/or puppies. Of course I’m kidding (sort of), but I’m so over the moon for this sweet session of @kah008 and her grandma, just doing the things they love to do. This is the kind of stuff that makes my job so worth it. It’s the people doing their things, the everyday magic that comes to life with a lens. Beauty in the mundane, normal moments which actually are anything but. I want to take pictures of you with your grandma.

She’s feeling 22... too?! I feel like the best way to describe Gloria is how we spent Black Friday last year - I was a complete mess and so not in the Christmas spirit, and she dropped everything to take me to Walmart and shop for Christmas stuff for the kiddos. She completely dislikes crowds, but she got me out of the house and out of my head and held space for me because it was what I needed. Gloria, you’re a gem. You’re kind and gentle, thoughtful, quick to love, and I am so glad you are my sister. Love you to bits, happy birthday!!
