Part 3 (now I’m done) In case any of you were feeling like I was, I wanted to share this reminder. We can still make it a holiday to remember...a holiday where next year we are sitting around with our families hugging and drinking out of a communal eggnog bowl saying, do you remember what we did in 2020?. Part 2 (the reason in part 1 still applies) OR. You can be thankful and grateful and you can make the most of things! Focus on the people who you do get to see. So what if your normal traditions aren't happening this year. Use some creativity to reimagine them, or don't reimagine them and just do something totally different. Who knows, maybe the totally different thing you do will be so enjoyable and great that it will find its way into all of your future traditions. Maybe no...t...but maybe! Who cares if the shipping from your normal stores is terrible and nothing is going to arrive prior to January 3rd. Go out into your community and gather up some cool goodies from your local small business owners. The holidays aren't about the gifts anyway, they are about the sentiment. Who cares if it's not on their list! If you host a holiday party every year, order some family style meals from a family owned restaurant and drop it off at your loved ones' home. If you've had a great year financially, leave a big honkin' tip. It will make you feel great, I guarantee it. And...decorate the heck out of that scraggly little tree and make it shine brighter than it ever would have! I am so lucky...and I'm sure a lot of you reading this are too. I have a great job that I'm passionate about, I have a roof over my head, I have a wonderful and supportive husband, I have a loving family, I have great clients, I have the best friends, and I have four hilarious dogs that provide me with laughs EVERY DAY. Yesterday, as I watched Maggie and Gertie tear around in the snow, and witnessed Matt get to rip the tags off of the industrial snowblower created for Alaska type snow storms that he bought 3 years ago, I found myself smiling. I found myself thinking about the joy that can be experienced in the simplest of things. Like Maggie's big smile and her floppy jowls covered in snow for the first time, or the look on Matt's face as he used way too much machine for the 6 inches of snow we received. I've been so intent on trying to fit a normal holiday peg into a wonky 2020 shaped hole, that I nearly forgot the meaning of the season. #postivelyphilly

Part 1 (Bc I’m long winded) You can choose. You get to choose if you have a happy holiday season or not." Someone who I seriously respect hit me with this reality check yesterday. I needed it. I was depressed and I was feeling sorry for myself. I was feeling some grief because I felt like every time I turned around, something negative was happening. The holidays didn't feel like the holidays. I had dug myself into this sad little hole. I was like the Eeyore version of myse...lf. Ali "Eeyore" Jankowski. Anyway, this wise and wonderful human gently (tbh it wasn't gentle and he used language that I shouldn't send out to over 2000 people, so, I will just let you use your imagination...) reminded me that happiness and joy are a choice. Choosing to focus on the positive instead of the negative...is a choice. For goodness sake, I should know this. It is the premise of what I have been writing since March. You can be sad that this holiday season is not what you want or that it's not going to be what you're used to. You can be sad because the traditions aren't happening, and maybe you're not going to see all the family you normally see, and maybe you feel like you've managed to secure absolutely zero heartfelt gifts for the people that you love, and your most favorite Christmas parties are nowhere to be found, and maybe you had to go to 5 different Christmas tree places to find a tree that didn't make Charlie Brown's look like it was Best in Show... And, and, and. #postivelyphilly

When we signed the listing agreement, my clients told me that their dream number was $485,000. They trusted me when I told them I would get them at least that price if they let me list it $465,000.
