Who doesn’t love a little Botox! Dr. Maya treated this patient’s masseter muscles with neuromodulator (Botox) in order to manage her Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD), which manifests as jaw, muscle, and joint soreness and pain, as well as frequent headaches. We often see TMD in night grinders and clenchers over time. These actions also irreversibly damage teeth and gums. Botox can be used as an alternative or adjunct to night guard therapy, partially paralyzing the muscles which cause grinding/clenching. The results below are from one visit. The patient reports marked improvement in her symptoms. There is no down time and results last between 3-4 months. Added bonus: a lower face slimming effect!
