The Wizard Of Oz (1939) - Dorothy Gale is swept away to the magical land of Oz and embarks on a quest with her new friends to see the Wizard who can help her return home to Kansas. Family friendly. 2. Ace In The Hole (195...1) - A former big-city journalist now stuck working for an Albuquerque newspaper exploits a story about a man trapped in a cave to rekindle his career, but the situation quickly escalates into an out-of-control circus. Drama. This film bombed when it was first released as 1950s audiences were repulsed by its cynicism, but it turned out to be well ahead of its time. Starring Kirk Douglas. Written and directed by Billy Wilder. 111 minutes. Not rated. We recommend 13+. 3. The Producers (1968) A theatrical producer and his accountant devise a get-rich-quick scheme by putting on the world's worst, most offensive play. Satire written and directed by Mel Brooks. Starring Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder. 88 minutes. Technically rated PG, but it's more of a modern day PG-13. We recommend 13+. 4. Good Will Hunting (1997) Matt Damon stars as Will Hunting, a janitor at M.I.T., who has a gift for mathematics but needs help from a psychologist to find direction in his life. Also starring Robin Williams in the only role he ever won an Oscar for. 126 minutes. Rated R, but older teenagers could probably watch this. We recommend 15+.

Apollo Theatre Classic Movie Recommendations To Watch At Home 1. My Darling Clementine (1946) Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday clean up Tombstone by taking on the Clanton clan at the O.K. Corral. Although this film plays fast and loose with historic facts, it is still a classic Western. Starring Henry Fonda. Directed by John Ford. Fun fact: Local Western silent movie star Tom Mix was one of the pallbearers at Wyatt Earp’s funeral in 1929. He was a close, personal friend. 97 minu...tes. Not rated. We recommend 10+. 2. A Patch Of Blue (1965) A poor, blind white woman and a determined young black man forge a friendship, and he vows to help her leave her abusive home life. Starring Sidney Poitier. 105 minutes. Not rated. We recommend 13+. 3. Beauty And The Beast (1991) A prince cursed to spend his days as a hideous monster sets out to regain his humanity by earning a young woman's love. Disney animation at its best. Fun fact: This is the first animated film (and one of only three ever) to be nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award. 84 minutes. Rated G. Family friendly. The Dark Knight (2008) When the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice. Starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger. Directed by Christopher Nolan. 152 minutes. Rated PG-13.

Groundhog Day (1993) - A weatherman finds himself inexplicably living the same day over and over again. Starring Bill Murray. 101 minute. Rated PG. And One New Recomation. 4. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (2009) - A local scientist is often regarded as a failure until he invents a machine that can make food fall from the sky. But little does he know, that things are about to take a turn for the worst. Fun animation. 90 minutes. Rated PG. Family friendly.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) - A criminal pleads insanity and is admitted to a mental institution, where he rebels against the oppressive nurse and rallies up the scared patients. Starring Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher. Fun fact: This is the second out of three movies ever to win all five major Oscars: Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Screenplay. The other two are It Happened One Night (1934) and The Silence of the Lambs (1991). 133 minutes. Rated R. And One New Recommendation. 4. Coco (2017) - Aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer.
