ACUPRESSURE involves therapeutic touch, massage, and pressure on prescribed acupuncture points. Acupuncture points are points along a meridian that are thought to be locations where Qi pools, flows, or moves in a way that has significant influence on the rest of the meridian. We can activate these points using Acupuncture or Acupressure. There are 361 primary acupuncture points with specific influence on the body, and then many additional pressure points (Ashi Points in Chin...ese Medicine) or Trigger Points. A Trigger Point is a western term for spasmed muscle tissue that has a specific pain referral pattern common to all humans. Western research has shown acupuncture/acupressure points to have increased conductance, reduced impedance and resistance, increased capacitance, and elevated electrical potential compared to adjacent non-acupuncture points. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQJvjaHu2PU&feature=youtu.be

What is the Function of the Lungs and Lung Meridian? The Lungs regulate Qi that we absorb from the natural world and distribute it through the body. The Lungs control breathing. Breathing forms a bridge between the body and the mind. That's really helpful! We can practice breath awareness in our busy lives both to support ourselves as well as others. When we breathe, we calm our nervous systems, promote better digestion and absorption of nutrients, support better circulation ...Continue reading

Pediatric (and all ages) Affirmation today: Breathing helps me create peace. It’s simple and true, right? And yet most of us struggle with it. Simple belly + lung breathing practice: Inhale fully into belly and chest. Pause for 3. Exhale fully. Pause for 8. Repeat as many times as needed to calm the sympathetic nervous system. It may help to hum a low note on your exhale. Once calm, breathe naturally into belly and lungs. ... #acupuncture #pediatricacupuncture #breathing

Halloween is approaching, so I thought I’d show you my version of pinhead. In all seriousness, though, this treatment for facial tension and TMJ dysfunction is NOT painful. (Applepuncture also does Gua Sha for these issues if Acupuncture is not your thing.) Did you know that the masseter is the strongest muscle (besides the uterus) in the human body for its size?! #acupuncture #facialacupuncture #acupunctureforjawpain #masseter #temporalis #scm #pterygoid #trapezius #levatorscapulae

Pediatric Acupuncture I am very impressed by my pediatric patients. They are so self-aware! I’ve seen it time and again the child tells their parents when they need acupuncture again. #pediatricacupuncture
