HEADS UP TO ALL OUR FISHING FRIENDS !! The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission is once again throwing everyone a curve ball with more surprises. This year's Opening Day of Trout Season has been scheduled for April 3rd. There will be no split opening days this year. April 3rd is opening day statewide !! Youth Mentor Day will be on March 27th statewide (once again, no east/west split days). Here is the real kicker !!! They will start stocking all the regulated stocked trou...t streams in the state on February 15th, two weeks earlier than normal. Due to this earlier stocking, ALL STOCKED STREAMS ARE OFFICIALLY CLOSED TO FISHING as of February 15th and not the 28th as usual. Simply put, if you get caught fishing in any Pennsylvania stocked stream from February 15th on you will be cited and fined. I personally feel that since the PAF&B isn't making the general public aware of these changes except on their website, they are going to supplement their coffers with fine monies from anglers fishing in waters they could normally fish until the end of February. Pretty underhanded and sneaky if you ask me. As the owner of Aquatic Imitations, I was not notified of any of these changes and would not have known about them if my good friend Greg Jackson had not called me this morning and told me about them. As soon as I got off the phone with Greg, I went to the PAF&B website and verified everything Greg had told me before I wrote this post, all absolutely true !! Just wanted all our friends and customers to know that Aquatic Imitations will be closed on Monday, January 25th as I am scheduled for eye surgery on my left eye. I will be required to do a follow up appointment on Tuesday morning, the 26th, so the shop will reopen after I'm released from the follow up appointment. Now I can actually say, "Looking forward to seeing you when you stop in". PS: Have a full stock of live bait, Large and Medium Shiners, Fathead Minnows, Meal Worms, Wax Worms, Red Worms, Night Crawlers and Baby Crawlers for your next fishing outing. Thanks to everyone for being patient with me through this eye surgery issue. Can't wait to get back out there on the stream myself and be able to see what I'm doing. Tight lines to all.

Wishing all our friends and followers a very Happy New Year. Fish are biting just about everywhere. Northern Pike at Glendale, Smallmouth bass at Petersburg dam and the Juniata river, trout in the Little J, Spruce Creek, Spring Creek, Yellow Creek, Bob’s Creek and the lower end of the Frankstown Branch. Even catching huge yellow perch down at Deep Creek Lake in Maryland. Got in another bait order yesterday so we are pretty well stocked. We will be closed New Years Day but will reopen Saturday morning at 9 am. Good luck, be careful out there and most importantly, enjoy yourselves.
