A winter storm warning is in effect for Central Pa area from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday. We are forecasted for a substantial amount of snow fall. With the snow fall travel will become dangerous, if not impossible in some areas. Avoid travel if possible. Make sure you have something to keep warm, like a blanket, incase you become stranded. Please have all vehicles removed from the roadways in Armagh Township, so the roadcrew can properly remove snow. We hope everyone stays safe and if you need help call the Mifflin County Non-emergency number 717-248-9607 or 911.

A reminder to not bog down Mifflin County 911 with simple power outages. If there are lines down affecting the flow of traffic or are causing a life hazard, notify 911. Otherwise, call the power company direct.

We understand there are a lot of questions going around about what people are permitted to do and what they should not do during this quarantine time. We will try to settle some of the biggest concerns brought to us. You are still allowed out walking around in your town? Yes. Running, walking, taking the dogs for a stroll are all still permitted as these actions are not restricted from the "stay at home" order from the Governor. One of the biggest things that have been ask...ed is do employees of businesses need travel permits from their jobs/boss. As it stands right now, there is not a travel ban, so a travel "permit" is not required. Law Enforcement will not purely pull you over just because you're out driving. We still need a reason to pull you over. The biggest thing that is asked during this "stay at home" is use common sense and stay inside unless you must travel. Grocery stores and gas stations are still open and functioning. Make sure you wash your hands and disinfect surfaces as needed. Help your community! If you know someone with a compromised immune system or is one of the groups at higher risk, ask if you can get items from the store for them so they do not have to go out and possibly be exposed. Neighbors helping neighbors! Stay safe if you must travel. Please check the CDC’s, the Governor's, and Department of Health's website for more information about the current status of COVID-19 and most up-to-date restrictions.

When it’s foggy, slow down and turn your lights on! Do you see the disabled tractor trailer blocking the entire right lane? No? Neither did most drivers until it was almost too late. Slow down. Save a life.

ATPD is highly recommending no one burn today for any reason. Today’s weather conditions are perfect for wildfires. DCNR has even cancelled their prescribed burns today because of these conditions - think about that. Please be smart and have no open burning today. If you have any type of fire, including just a back yard fire pit, NEVER leave it unattended. Thank you for your cooperation.
