Arnot Kids

Hey parents! Each week we will try to share talking points about what we learned in kids church that you can use during the week with your kids. This past Sunday, we talked about a guy in the Bible named Gideon. He was part of a tribe of Israel and for 7 years, the Israelites had been mistreated by the Midianites. It was really bad. But, God used a guy who was from the weakest tribe who was also the least important in his family to defeat the Midianites. His name was Gideon.... Gideon started with an army of over 32,000 men but God narrowed it down so Gideon went to war with only 300 men. And they still got the victory! It's a really great story that you can read in Judges 6-7. We talked about feeling left out sometimes, or maybe being a weaker player at a sport, and things like that and how God still uses us and can do amazing things. We then made bridges out of paper and saw how things that are really weak can become really strong. (Tip: Folding the paper does wonders) Encourage your kids, talk to them about how God gives us confidence and can help us stand strong! This week we will begin working on the Books of the Bible. We're starting at the beginning and going to play some games and do activities to help kids learn the books of the Bible. I wanted to give a heads up - if you want to work on them with your kids, take a Bible and look at the Table of Contents and just start getting familiar with the names of the books. Good morning! This week was our first week back at Kids Church. As much as possible, we will try to share talking points for families based on each week's lesson. Talking about it during the week (maybe during dinnertime or when you're in the car together or anytime really!) is a great way to reinforce it and make it "stick." This, week, we learned that Young Kids can do big things too. We read from 1 Samuel 17 and we made a life-sized Goliath and talked about how God used a ...KID to help win a war. David trusted God and was willing to face a giant, even when everyone (the adults) around him were scared. Feel free to make that life sized Goliath with your kids. He was 9 1/2 feet tall! We used a roll of wrapping paper and drew him and then tried to attach him to the wall. He was too tall but you can also do it outside, just to get an idea of what David was going up against! (We may or may not have used a slingshot with paper balls to help the kids get an idea of what happened that day..) And if your kids mentioned elephant toothpaste, it was an experiment we did using little things to make a BIG reaction. What does all of this have to do with us? We talked about how we can trust God in the same way - maybe it's at school when there's a big homework project, or someone is being mean to another kid, or we have to face a hard change. Hey Kids! We have SUPER exciting news! We are back this Sunday for live, in-person Kids Church and we are so excited to see you! You’ll notice a few changes that we will walk you through on Sunday morning but get ready to have an explosively fun time with your friends as we learn more about Jesus! WE CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU!! *A note for parents, due to current guidelines, kids ages 2 & up are welcome. Younger children are most welcome too, but we ask that they are accompanied by a guardian.
