Where have you seen the Lord? Our latest newsletter features several interviews with members of our church as they share testimonies to the Lord's faithfulness and work through Ascension ministries. Hear what the Lord has been doing in the lives of the living saints! You can read our electronic edition on our website: https://www.ascensionpittsburgh.org/the-ascent/
Missed Sundays sermon? How about the week before? We've got you covered! On October 10th, Father Jonathan encouraged us to number our days as we discern together how the Lord is calling us into his abundant life. Yesterday, Josh Bennett reminded us that the word is a double-edged sword that convicts and heals us from the "splinters" (wounds, fears, etc.) that keep us from moving forward in the fullness of God. Listen to both these teachings, and others, by visiting our website (https://www.ascensionpittsburgh.org/sermons/)
Today is the Feast of St. Luke, Evangelist, Companion of Paul and Physician. Appointed readings include Sirach 38:1-14, Psalm 147:1-11, II Timothy 4:1-13, and Luke 4:14-21. We encourage all Christians to take time today to pray for our physicians and healthcare workers, their good work in the Kingdom, and that they would be filled with all the fullness of God, Our Great Physician.
James, who suffers from autism, is interviewed by Ascension's rector, Jonathan Millard. From silence to speech! And does James have something to say! Please also see pp 4 5 of our church newsletter for a more extended interview with James: https://www.ascensionpittsburgh.org//10.21-October-Ascent-.
TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY (10/30)! All are welcome to worship together at the Ordination of Alex Banfield Hicks, Director of Youth and Campus Ministries, to the Priesthood. The Service of Ordination will take place at 10am with a light luncheon to follow.
In the month of October we are pleased to air several ‘Living Stones’ testimonies given by various parishioners at Ascension. Hear from some of our new members who recently joined our church family! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaUJkpL028I
TOMORROW (10/14)! What can we learn from the medieval church? The joy of trebuchets? How to maintain faith during a plague? Join our Seniors ministry as Dr. Bill Campbell address probably far more poignant questions this Thursday. Register through our website. https://www.ascensionpittsburgh.org/latest-news/
RSVP for THIS SUNDAY (10/17)! Join us for a new initiative! This is a time to grow into maturity by engaging with timely spiritual, theological, and cultural questions. This Sunday, we'll discuss the sacrament of baptism. Why do we baptize? What does it mean? Why do Anglicans baptize infants? Led by Father Kevin Antlitz with light lunch provided. RSVP through our website! https://www.ascensionpittsburgh.org/latest-news/

#Proper24 both challenges us and encourages us with the prophetic words of Malachi 3:6-12 as well as Jesus' words Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. (Matthew 22:15) May we the church shine as an example of trust and honor in a world that is often marred by fear and greed. And let us remember the Lord's call to us: "I love you. Return to me. Be Faithful." Artwork by Suzanne Werder, member of Church of the Ascension. #bcp2019 #unordinarytime #faithful #tithe

Kelsey Regan, long-time member and artists of Church of the Ascension, provides our visual art for this week's art meditation for #proper23. Entitled, "Abba, Stay Close to Me," we are reminded with Lyte's hymn "Abide in Me" that the Lord's presence is one of the greatest provisions that he offers his children. See the entire artwork in our devotional "(un)Ordinary Time" which can be downloaded for free here: https://sites.google.com//ascensionmusicandworshiparts/home
