A most unusual first day of school! Classes from a laptop, masks, social distancing -- heck, we're not even in the school! AYD launched its Community Learning Hub yesterday at Emmanuel Christian Church. Every school day, students bring their Pittsburgh Public Schools-issued devices, and AYD provides high-speed Wi-Fi, headphones, school supplies, breakfast and lunch, and staff assistance with technical issues, schoolwork help, encouragement, and of course a little redirection now and then. (Pull your mask up!) Pittsburgh Morrow PreK-8 Principal Mr. Calvert even came over to help get students logged on for the first time! Pull those masks up! AYD wraps up our 2020 Summer Day Camp tomorrow. All new this year: Masks, social distancing, temperature checks, high-touch surface disinfection and much more! Kids and staff were good troupers about complying with all the new rules (although SOME gentle reminders were needed!)
