Bangor Area HS Horticulture/Greenhouse

Hello friends of the horticulture program at Bangor Area High School! Long time no see. We miss you! Looks like we will not be able to connect with our community for the rest of the school year. Hoping we can re-engage with you through plant sales next school year! Wanted to share my funky red Amaryllis that finally bloomed in my classroom! I’ll try to post some of the neat stuff that we’re doing in the greenhouse this year, but we really had to pull back with Covid. Hope everyone is well!

Unfortunately, (we kind of knew going into the season) we will not be able to have a community poinsettia sale this year. We normally sell them at the Christmas concerts which you also will not be attending this year either. Just wanted to let everyone know and as always, we appreciate your support of our program and can’t wait to see you again!!

Tried a new variety of perennial black eyed Susan this year... I’m in love! Should we grow it again for Mother’s Day?

Hello friends! As always I want to thank everyone for helping our program this year by supporting those garden centers who generously purchased plants from us. Miller’s Egg Ranch came by again today and scarfed up almost everything we had left two more truckloads!! Thank you Sarah Gately-Wilson! Please also support Johnsonville Farm and Garden, Ginder Greenhouse and Thomas Greenhouse who also purchased from us! Thank you also to Baker Landscaping for their support! Finally, I couldn’t have continued caring for the entire greenhouse without the daily help of my faithful assistant- Lucy Kuiper! Looking forward to next year’s sale and seeing all of your happy faces again! Well wishes to everyone!

I hope everyone is well! Unfortunately, under the current conditions and mandates of the state, we will not be able to have our Mother’s Day plant sale out of the school. However, you can still purchase our quality plants from local garden centers. Sarah Gately-Wilson of Miller’s Egg Ranch and Old Stonehouse Farm on Sunrise came by yesterday and purchased two whole Box Trucks full of our stuff!! Thomas’s greenhouse will be picking up some perennials and Ginder’s will be picking up some flats of coleus, dusty miller and impatiens- also in baskets. Baker Landscaping is ready to install our plants if you don’t want to do the work! Johnsonville will have some of our veggies, potted geraniums and some spider plants! I will update where to purchase our plants as the week goes on. Please support your local businesses! Please share this post!
