Wright's Ferry Mansion stands as a reminder that in the early 1700s English Quakers coming from Chester, Pennsylvania, tamed a wild and virtually uninhabited co...untry along the Susquehanna River. Today, the house and collection inside reflects the elegant, yet restrained, taste of Susanna Wright, as well as her many interests. This photograph shows how the Sehner-Ellicott-von Hess House at 123 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA looked in April 1883. Between 1801 to 1813 Andrew Ellicot...t lived here. Ellicott was one of America’s most famous surveyors. In the early 1790s, Ellicott finished the work of Major Pierre Charles l’.Enfant, drawing up plans for and surveying our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. This and other work earned him the title Geographer of the United States. Click the link to learn more. https://hptrust.org/see-the-sehner-ellicott-von-hess-house/
