In the wake of the events in Minneapolis and everything that has followed across the country, I wanted to address the Bryn Athyn community and all those we serve. The members of the Bryn Athyn Police Department are shocked and outraged by the actions of the Minneapolis police officer who caused the death of George Floyd, and by the failure of other officers on the scene to come to Mr. Floyd’s aid. It is vital that Borough residents, residents of neighboring communities, and t...hose visiting or passing through the Borough know that members of this Police Department are committed to meeting the highest professional standards. Among those standards is the imperative that all citizens, regardless of race or any other personal characteristic, are treated equally, fairly, and with respect in short, with simple human decency. Over the years, this Department has enjoyed a very positive relationship with those it serves, and we try constantly to earn the public’s trust. In this time of great turmoil, please know that the members of the Bryn Athyn Police Department are honored to serve and protect the safety and welfare of all, and are dedicated to treating all people equally, fairly, and with respect. Sincerely, Stephen Gray, Chief of Police Bryn Athyn Police Department
