It's been another week. One full of Thanksgiving and food! As another memory of our 110 years of service, here are some of the orphans who lived on our campus in 1915.

Baptist Homes’ MVP for November 2020 is Jamie Rosales. Her nomination noted, Jamie has taken on the responsibilities of being the BH Coordinator for #CRESP. She has done a great job in this volunteer role making sure staff receive extra support during the pandemic.

Take a stroll down memory lane. The first building Baptist Homes built on its Mt. Lebanon campus, shown in the background is the original house that was on the property when the land was purchased in 1915.

In a year like no other, our families, staff, residents, volunteers and friends have provided care, demonstrated strength, and generously given of themselves. These are the blessings of Christmas past, present, and future. Wishing a peaceful and Merry Christmas to all!

We provided live entertainment today on each floor by using zoom and Apple TV! 6 feet Apart and still singing together with lots of heart. Thanks Craig Zinger and Grandma Jones for the entertainment!

At 85, Judi Dench was the oldest person to ever be featured on the cover of Vogue Magazine. She also had lots to say about the pandemic and its effect on older people. Dame Judi who is currently self-isolating at home during the coronavirus pandemic said: I am sure I feel like everyone else, such unprecedented times are quite hard to comprehend. In Pittsburgh, Pasta Month must include pierogies! We had a socially distant art night and some of our Baptist Manor residents created art with a bunch of Pittsburgh's favorite pasta!

It was 51 years ago today that Richard Nixon announced the end of the Vietnam War. What was and is one of the most brutal conflicts in American history. It lasted for 20 years and claimed many lives. Today, we thank our veterans and remember those who served in this war.

What should have been a quiet Sunday morning in Hawaii, December 7, 1941 became the date that will live in infamy. The Japanese attack on the Naval Station at Pearl Harbor took the lives of 2,403 Americans and USA entered World War II the following day. Though not considered a federal holiday, the American flag is flown at half-staff until sunset on Dec. 7 to honor and remember the people and events.

It’s getting closer to Halloween so make sure to grab a pumpkin as today is Pumpkin Day! There’s always some fun to be had when carving a pumpkin and picking a design. And if you don’t wanna make a Jack-o-Lantern, you can make some pumpkin pie instead!

While it may be just shaving cream, that doesn't mean we can't post a pic from our 2016 Pie Day to celebrate today's holiday: Boston Cream Pie Day. You certainly don't have to celebrate how we did, but at least there's a great excuse to eat some delicious pie!
