In early October 2020, we assisted with a hoarding case that occurred in Texas. A local shelter who was in contact with the situation since day 1 had to temporarily close and asked if we would be able to assist, so we took in a handful of dogs who clearly needed help. DOG OF THE WEEK: PETE Poor Pete has been at the shelter on and off for the past 4 years. He is a typical stubborn hound, preferring to be alone and only looking for affection when he feels like it. He is extremely intelligent and has a howl like no other! He is great with our volunteers who understand his personality, being quite a love bug at times with those who he knows he can trust. Hi guys, Jean here! So let me try to understand this. When a dog is posted, they receive hundreds of shares, comments, and applications. But when a cat is posted, we barely receive any shares, comments, and applications. Why is that??? We need homes just as much as those crazy canines do!! I arrived at Blue Chip a few weeks ago with all of these other cats after we were removed from a hoarding situation. Peaches was dumped outside and was brought in at the same time as us hoa...rders, so we have been sharing an area with her and consider her part of our gang! So far two have found homes, but that leaves the rest of us stuck at the shelter! We would all really love to find homes that fit our needs and will love us forever and ever!! He was originally known as the Eighth Street Dog, since he was the one that was tossed out of a moving vehicle on Eighth Street in West Wyoming in November 2020. His original owner was charged with two counts of animal cruelty within 24 hours of the incident. We know a lot about his past, and after a few weeks of really getting to know him - we know exactly what he needs! Zachary:... DOG OF THE WEEK: BRUNO This blue eyed handsome man arrived during the summer of 2020 after being saved from euthanization at a kill shelter down south. Daphney desperately needs a home! This adorable 10 month old lady is terrified at the shelter. She came from a home that did not pay much attention to her, causing her to become fearful around new people. Once she knows you’re safe, she is extremely sweet and loves to be pet. She is good with other cats and should be ok with small dogs who are cat friendly. We would recommend no young kids due to her timid behaviors. We would hate to see her fears grow while living in the shelter environment, and know all she needs is a family and home to call her own! Please give her a chance! Alumni Luna is loving this winter weather! She was adopted last August after being rescued from an abusive situation at the young age of 10 weeks old. She is a great example of how dog’s can overcome their past with some structure, commitment, and TLC (while not all dogs can overcome their past, many can live very happy lives with new families)! She was adopted by one of our main volunteers and has 3 other rescue siblings, all Blue Chip alumni’s as well! She is the only one out of her furry family that loves the snow! BONDED SENIORS Harry & Lilly will be arriving within the next few days! This adorable duo lost their home after their owner passed away. They were tossed around a few times due to not having placement, until being placed back in their owner’s apartment alone - only being interacted with for a daily walk. They will be coming to our shelter to find their final forever family to ensure that they do not end up in a kill shelter. ... They are both 10 years old. Harry (black & white) is believed to be a Collie mix. Lilly (tan and white) is believed to be a Hound mix. Both are extremely friendly and affectionate. Spongebob and Patrick need a home!! These handsome men are only 10 months old and we would hate to see them have to begin their adult life in the shelter! They are both timid at first, but once they warm up they are hysterical and quite rambunctious. Both are good with other cats and should be ok with calmer dogs who are cat friendly. Like you, we all look forward to this event but feel the current conditions would not allow us to hold a safe event. Three Dog Bakery will remain open for safe, indoor shopping and offer curbside shopping for anyone not comfortable coming in.

Hi! I’m Jax!! Please don’t mind my crooked smile, they apparently don’t make braces for pups! Anyway, I’m new here! I was surrendered after a hard life. You see, my owner was never super nice to me. I was hurt a lot and left either locked up or on the run all by myself. Rescuers tried to take me for months, until my owner finally agreed to give me up. I am estimated to be 7-9 years old and a Pit mix. I am good with other dogs and kids, I just do not like those little kitty ca...ts. My owner never trained me how to walk on a leash or that I have to go to the bathroom outside, but I am already learning quickly! I would love someone who will take me on daily walks or that has a fenced yard for me to run in! I really love being around people and crates make me nervous, but my previous owner said I was always a good boy when left alone without being crated. Janice needs a home! This adorable girl is a 1 year old Mastiff/Pitbull mix. She was surrendered due to her previously new home having animals that were not a fan of poor Janice. She loves other dogs and is great with kids of all ages. She is not a fan of cats. She is a BIG girl, tall and we are assuming roughly 70lbs. She can use general training, as she is a leash puller and was tossed around a few times. She does well in a crate and seems to be house trained as well. Marco & Polo need a home! These handsome little men are 5 week old male rats who are looking for a forever home together - they are brothers and are already extremely bonded. Marco is pictured on the left, and Polo is on the right. While they look similar, their back markings easily show who is who. Our Polo boy was born completely blind and relies on his brother to stay calm and find his way around. At times he will spin in a panic, but calms once he finds his brother. Both ...have visited the vet and received clean bills of health! Polo’s eyes do not need to be removed and cause no pain, they just don’t work (which he is perfectly fine with)! Both are very friendly and sweet boys, Polo prefers giving you0 a quick sniff before you pick him up so he knows you are there and does not become startled. Both have choses small pieces of bagels as their favorite special treat and enjoy their daily meals of dry food, seeds, and fresh fruits & veggies! We would like to find them a home with no young kids due to Polo’s condition. They can only go to a home with no female rats, as neither are neutered. We are also requiring proof of cage, as we will only allow these boys to go to a home that has a proper large cage for them (as well as allowing them to hang out outside of their cage at least once a day). Polo also loves toys, so their ache will have to have a good amount of toys to keep him entertained and to work his brain. These boys are also working on their litter box training, which we encourage adopters to continue with! Poor Bentley has been waiting for a forever home for weeks! He has not received a single application that fits his needs. Bentley is a 5 year old Newfoundland/GSD mix. He lost his home a few months ago and arrived at the shelter with his older sister. They both spent a few weeks with us, until his sister was adopted and shortly after Bentley found a home. Unfortunately, his home did not work out due to the cats, so he has been back with us for a over a month now. He is lookin...g for a home with no kids or cats, he does well with other dogs - especially if they are claimer like his sister was. He enjoys going for walks, but does not go on long ones due to a hip surgery that happened a few years back. He is completely healed, it’s just that at times long walks or a lot of steps bother him. He is a very sweet boy, taking time to trust new people and allow them to cuddle up with him. He loves his volunteers and we are able to snuggle with him, it just takes him a few weeks to trust new people enough to be lovey dovey with them. He loves tennis balls, treats, and relaxing. Ace has received 0 applications that fit his needs! Ace was surrendered due to not getting along with the other dogs in his home. He has completed a training class and is extremely well behaved, he just needs to be the only animal in his home. He is a 6 year old GSD/Pitbull mix. He does well with children 10+ years in age. He is house, crate, leash, and command trained. Even though he is crate trained, he does not need to be crated when alone if you do not want to crate him. He is extremely affectionate with people and loves to be around them. We know his perfect home is out there! He is the sweetest little man who is becoming depressed at the shelter.
