October - this raised garden was planted in late August, and is bursting with fresh parsley, Swiss chard and lettuce. Residents or staff, help yourselves before the cold gets it!

Beaumont boasts 5 new rain gardens to help capture and filter rain water and control storm water run-off on campus. And the native plantings in these verdant beds attract pollinators while hiding unsightly metal grates. A sight for sore eyes indeed!

Sharon Kelly, a Beaumont resident and talented seamstress, assembled colorful scraps of fabric from the community's mask-making endeavors and stitched together small patches. She then delivered a patch to each villa and apartment at Beaumont with a note, requesting residents to sign their names in the white space. Once all the patches were returned, Sharon artfully stitched them together to create a Memory Quilt; a tribute to the Beaumont community of dedicated staff and residents, for their endurance in facing the Covid-19 lockdown together. The 40" x 38" quilt is on display in the Beaumont Room for all to see and enjoy. Kudos!

Word has it that so many people were planting Victory Gardens at the start of the coronavirus epidemic, that suppliers ran out of plants, forcing gardeners to once again plant from seeds. That certainly did not stop us at Beaumont. The Nalle Garden's 24-plots are in full bloom. Growing alongside the peppers, tomatoes, lettuce and string beans, are daisies, zinnias, poppies and other flowers attractive to pollinators. Louise Carter's dahlias are the stars of the floral show.... Ginny Rivers' sunflowers add majesty to the garden and are in competition with Brook Gay for the 'tallest' specimen. Ferns and hostas interweave with wild flowers to add texture, tone and beauty. Several of our busy gardeners not only weed, water and harvest the crops, but create arrangements and deliver them to those who cannot walk to the garden and to the Health Center where residents can make their own bouquets. And the U-PICK area allows residents to cut flowers, to add color to their apartment or villas. Yes, the Beaumont spirit is flourishing in the garden! See more

On Thursday, Beaumont residents gathered on their balconies, at their windows, on the grounds (six feet apart), to raise some noise and a hearty cheer of gratitude for all their care workers.

A 'games group' at Beaumont still manages to get together to play games from the safety of their own spaces, having replaced their physical get-togethers with Zoom game days.
