Oh beautiful, for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties, Above the fruited plain... America the Beautiful. Organic Wheat waves in the Bella Vista wind while our Clover cover crop blankets the soil. Wheat is a symbol of love and life. It reminds me of our drives West across the Great Plains, an American icon. Phacelia tanacetifolia. My new favorite flower! Used as a cover crop as well as a pollinator strip for the sweet honeys bees and other beneficial insects like hoverflies which are useful as biological pest control agents because they eat aphids and other pests. Two weeks ago we planted Soybeans. As they began to emerge through the soil, we noticed several spotty areas in the rows. Not really what we hoped to see, so we are presented with a choice; do nothing and take what life gave us or do we make the tough decision to start over and replant. Life can be the same way. Maybe things don’t turn out as you hoped but it’s never to late to start over or at least change your route! #bellavistagossfarm #organicfarming #bellabethechange

With the Asian Giant Hornet in the news lately, we would like to remind you that Penn State Extension is here as a resource to help you identify the insects in ...your backyard. Asian Giant Hornets are not known to occur outside of Washington state and Vancouver Island, and are not present in Pennsylvania. The two most commonly confused wasp species in Pennsylvania are European hornets, and cicada killers. With that being said, if you think you have one, please contact us to help identify the insect. If you have a picture or a sample that you would like to have identified, please contact our local office at [email protected]

Peep, peep, peep plus the whimpers of two curious dogs wondering what the heck is in there and why is this in my house. Our Daughter’s new Farm project is to raise laying Chickens for Farm Fresh Eggs. Raising kids on a Farm is a priceless experience!!! #bellavistagossfarm

What do Barn Owls eat? The Barn Owl’s diet consists mainly of small mammals: Field Voles, Common Shrews, Wood Mice, House Mice, Brown Rats, Bank Voles and Pygmy Shrews. ... Barn Owls eat their prey whole but cannot digest fur or bone. This is regurgitated in the form of a pellet. Which you see scattered throughout the nesting box. A Barn Owl will typically eat 3-4 prey items a night. During the breeding season, a pair of Barn Owls will (ideally) find this amount for each owlet as well. This works out to almost 4,000 prey items a year to feed a pair and their offspring! Pest Management in its most natural form!!! #bellavistagossfarm #bellabethechange #shaverscreek #barnowltrust
