Bellwood-Antis Public Library

Due to the rising number of COVID cases in Blair County, the Bellwood-Antis Public Library will go back to curbside services and appointments for library patrons starting Tuesday, December 1st, at least through December. The library will still be staffed Monday-Thursday from noon-5 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM-2 PM, but patrons will need to make an appointment to enter the building. Appointments can be made by calling us at 742-8234. For services like faxing and photocopying, patrons will be able to use a walk-up service desk in the vestibule of the main entrance. Today's Mackinmaker Moment spotlights the Architecture Take & Make Kit for kids in grades 3-5. This kit contains the Marc Harshman's book Fallingwater, miniature building materials, and challenge cards. This kit is one of our favorites because it combines a Pennsylvania landmark with fun architecture activities kids can do at home! This and other Mackinmaker Kits are available for checkout now! Frank Lloyd Wright was an architect whose revolutionary designs would influence generations of architects to come. This week's challenge has multiple options, all in tribute to this legendary architect: --recreate one of Wright's houses --recreate a stained glass piece designed by Wright (pictured here is a stained glass installation from the Arizona Biltmore)... --design a new building inspired by Wright To get started, visit https://franklloydwright.org/work/ to see some of his designs Challenges can be completed using Lego bricks, other toys, or art and craft materials. New music from Harry Kindergarten Music--sing along from home!

One of our favorite Christmas traditions at the library has had a socially distant update: Creature Teacher Jody Wallace created Take and Make Sustainable Wreat...h and Swag kits available for a $20 donation to to the library. Customize your kit with a smorgasbord of natural materials curated by the Creature Teacher, or find unique vintage pieces at our Christmas Bazaar and Vintage Costume Jewelry sale! Wreath Kits, Swag Kits are available now. You will need some basic tools and craft materials at home to use these kits.
