Great job cadets

Some well earned promotions. Happy to pin the cadets in school and I look forward to pinning the cadets that were promoted virtually.

On Friday, 2/5, BHS American History Teacher, Ms. Elberson, in conjunction with the BHS MCJROTC program, hosted Master Gunnery Sergeant Joseph Geeter, USMC (Ret....) the Public Affairs Officer for the Montford Point Marine Association, Philadelphia Chapter. The Montford Point Marines were the first African-Americans to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps after President Franklin Roosevelt issues an Executive Order establishing the Fair Employment Practices Commission in June 1941. Geeter, one of the most authoritative speakers on the Montford Point Marines, provided an in-depth look at these Marines and their accomplishments via Zoom.

Congratulations to: Cadets Brian Olsen, Liam Robinson, Mohammad Kafya, Alayna Schnorbus and Thomas Nicholas, members of the BHS Marine Corps JROTC Leadership Ac...ademic Bowl or JLAB Team for 2021. JLAB is the national JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl. The BHS team is dedicated to studying scholarly academics and the skills that surround leadership. In the past few months, under the watchful eye of Marine Instructor Master Sergeant Shawn Worthen and with mentorship from Cadet First Lieutenant Mohammad Kafya, the team has prepared for their Level 1 Group Test. The February 1, 2021 competition results revealed the team successfully scored in the top 50% of all teams nationwide, advancing the BHS team onto the next round. The team is now readying themselves for the Level II Qualifier where the top eight teams nationally seek to advance to the Championship round in Washington D.C., later this year.
