High school seniors seeking financial assistance for college can apply for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ Scholarship. Each year the program awards a four-year scholarship to two students preparing for post-secondary education. The scholarship is privately funded by individual and corporate donors; no tax or other public funds are used. The program is open to graduating high school seniors who are Pennsylvania residents with plans to attend a Pennsylvania colleg...e, university, or career school as a full-time student. The scholarship program is administered through the Foundation for Enhancing Communities. The application deadline is March 1, 2021.

While we value the childhood magic of a snow day, we also have taken into consideration the importance of maintaining educational routines that have already been disrupted by COVID mitigation. Due to the impending storm, we will have a VIRTUAL ASYNCHRONOUS DAY on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17. Teachers will be assigning educational activities. Students will be marked present by completing their work. This will allow us to count toward our 180 days and not require us to make up a ...day in June. Schools and offices will be closed. There will be no transportation for private schools. We plan to resume our hybrid schedule on Friday, weather permitting. Stay tuned for updates. Vita Education Services is currently conducting on-line registration for its winter-spring session of free English as a Second Language, GED preparation, and Basic Skills (Reading, Writing and Math) classes. Adults who are not currently enrolled in Vita classes, can apply for online classes through Vita’s website. After applicants watch an eligibility video and complete an online form, the remainder of the registration process is conducted via phone conferences and virtual on-line meetings. Space is limited and registration will end once classes are full. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, in person instruction will not be offered and all classes will be conducted virtually. Remember this face? The Northern Saw-whet owl admitted a few weeks ago has officially moved to phase 2 of his rehab. He is now in our intermediate step before m...oving to our outdoor flight pens. This larger cage will allow him more mobility and to acclimate back to the chilly PA weather. Next step, the outdoor flight pen and flight conditioning!
