On Tuesday evening the company proudly placed into service 21 brand new Dräger SCBA packs. These 21 packs, 42 cylinders, and 21 masks were made possible thanks ...to a regional FEMA grant we were included in on with local companies. -Boyertown Area Fire & Rescue -Gilbertsville Fire & Rescue -Oley Fire Department Our portion of the grant was worth nearly $150,000 and the department was required to pay just ten percent of that portion. This grant was a vital need as our current SCBA were over 15 years old and in need of replacement. A grant like this allows your local departments to save their money and use it on other required equipment, training, and maintenance. A few key safety features of these units include: - Voice Amplified Masks which will make communicating much easier when in use. - Buddy breathing units (air sharing if a firefighter would run low on air while inside a dangerous environment) - Each interior qualified member received a personal mask that was fit tested specifically for them. - Glow In The Dark Masks Labels (Making identification much easier in dark or smoky environments. Trucks masks received "Earl Twp" labels and personal masks received the first initial and lastname of the members). Just two hours after placing them into service, they were required for use by members as we were dispatched to a possible structure fire in Oley Township. We would like to thank Bruce Meck @ Berks Emergency Equipment for working with us and supplying us these new units!

Berks Emergency Equipment would like to thank the members of Earl Twp. Fire Company for their purchase and continued trust in Draeger. They replaced the units they originally purchased in 2002 with this grant.
