Just to clarify from yesterday's email, this year's meeting (2020) is cancelled and next year's meeting will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 12:00 pm at the Meeting House
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Board of the Bertolet Meeting House has decided to cancel this year's meeting on Saturday, August 8, 2020. But please put in your calendar next year's date - Saturday, August 14th at 12:00 noon!! We'll be celebrating the 173 anniversary of the building!!
The Bertolet Meeting House has a William Penn connection! In the early 1700s, Henry Frey, purchased from William Penn the land on which the meeting house was built. The cemetery was established first and then the meeting house was constructed in 1847. In 1734, Frey was the first person buried in the cemetery. Sixteen years later, in 1750, his grandson Jacob married Jean Bertolet's daughter Susanna, thus connecting the Frey and Bertolet families.... #MontCoPA #Bertolet #Frey #MontgomeryCountyPA #HistoricPA #MeetingHouse The Historical Society of Montgomery County, PA #PAHistory #FrederickPA #OleyValley
