City of Bethlehem Declares Snow Emergency Effective 7:00 a.m. Sunday, February 7, 2021 City of Bethlehem Mayor Robert Donchez declared a snow emergency in Beth...lehem effective 7:00 a.m. Sunday, February 7, 2021 to allow plowing of snow to the curb on designated City Emergency Routes/Streets. All vehicles need to be removed from the designated/signed side of streets on Bethlehem snow emergency routes by 7:00 a.m. February 7, 2021. Vehicles not removed will be towed to allow for plowing. One side of a snow emergency route is plowed at a time. Residents should check the signs posted along snow emergency routes to determine which side of the street the even or odd -- will be cleared first. Residents needing immediate assistance while the snow emergency declaration is in effect should call our activated 24 hour phone numbers 610-865-7115 or 610-865-7116. The North Street, New Street and Walnut Street public parking garages will continue to be free of charge through 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2021, as noted in a prior press release, to accommodate parking needs. Residents are asked not to park on public parking lots due to the need to plow these lots. Updates will be provided as necessary.

George and Pharaoh give a warm thanks to all their friends who sent them birthday cards. January 1st Pharaoh turned 18 and George turned 16. Pictured are the last set of shoes that were recently removed from our retired herd boss. Happy birthday fellas.

CONTEST TIME! There's hay and valentines flying all over the stables as the horses enter the final preparations for mailing all of their valentines. We won't be surprised if there's hay in those envelopes too! With all of that activity, there's some serious competition going on to see who will send out the most. George is certain that he will prevail as the reigning retiree. Casper argues that he will corner the sweetheart market (who would be "daft" and not pick the "dra...ft"?). Pharaoh thinks he is a horseshoe-in as the oldest and wisest member. Grey is sure he will lead by a nose. And Asa, being the largest, plans to just throw his weight around and ride roughshod over the others. Who will win this friendly competition??? Comment below with your prediction of who sent the most valentines! Two winners will be randomly selected from the correct responses and will be announced on Monday, 2/15. Winners will each receive complimentary entry fees to Walk-Trot-Roll 2021 in June. This is the biggest valentine initiative to date, and we thank everyone who has graciously supported it. 100% of all proceeds directly benefit the horses. See more

2/4/2021 At last evening's City Council meeting, Council members adopted a resolution to retire K9 Hix, an officer with the City of Bethlehem Police Department.... His retirement comes at the recommendation of his veterinarian due to severe arthritis. For more than 5 years, Hix has honorably served the residents of Bethlehem, as well as provided his valuable services to other communities throughout the Lehigh Valley. Congratulations, Hix! Enjoy your retirement

The officers and their equine partners meet hundreds of people a week when on patrol. Last week Casper made a new FOUR legged friend, Bubba. A few weeks ago Bubba saw the Mounted Police Horses patrolling his neighborhood , but missed the chance to meet them. Last week, Bubba and his owner Loren were able to see the officers again and had this chance encounter. Casper and Bubba shared this gentle moment together. This was the first time Bubba has met a horse.... https://www.tiktok.com/@bubbabooeyth//6887288628112903429 See more
