I wanted to share some information for those of you who struggle with acne! // A C N E // There are 4 types of acne: ... 2 are inflammatory and the other 2 are non-inflammatory. The top 2 photos are examples of non-inflammatory acne. There are blackheads (open comedo) and whiteheads (closed comedo). These are both extractable and once the pore is cleared out it will appear smaller due to the fact the pore is no longer holding onto dirt, sebum (oil), dead skin and debris. The bottom 2 photos are examples of inflammatory acne: papules and pustules. Papules are not extractable and if you try you will spread bacteria and break capilaries. You need to leave them alone, use ice to reduce the redness and inflammation, spot treat and step away from the magnification mirror! Pustules can be extracted, but gently and I definitely recommend by a professional esthetician. Typically, a lancet is used and without experience you can damage the epidermis and spread bacteria. You will always do more harm if you try and force anything. The acne can actually burst under the skin and the bacteria can spread under the skin causing tons more breakouts! We have all suffered from acne -- many of yall are suffering right now. Being on the right skin regime for your skin type, keeping a balanced healthy diet, never sleeping with makeup on, changing your pillow case regularly, drinking tons of water and living a healthy lifestyle are all essential for beautiful glowing skin. Keeping your skin exfoliated is K E Y to ensure dirt, excess oil, bacteria and dead skin cells don't build up in your pores. Proper exfoliation also helps your nice products penetrate deep into your skin and your skin will feel smoother and appear healthier.
