Dear Friends: As I mentioned in my post of this past Monday, March 6, my series of broadcasts on the first five mysteries of the rosary begins TONIGHT, March 10, at 8:30 pm Eastern, and continues on Saturday, March 11; Sunday, March 12; Wednesday, March 15; and Friday, March 17 all at 8:30 pm. Wishing to avoid adding to the current clutter on my public figure Gerry Matatics Facebook page (which was making it difficult for people to locate specific videos in particular se...ries, e.g. the Monday evening series on Guéranger’s The Liturgical Year, as opposed to, say, the Wednesday night series on Christian Social Principles, and so forth), I had originally envisioned setting up a separate Facebook page dedicated just to these talks on the rosary (not just these first five talks on the joyful mysteries, but as well eventually the ten additional talks on the sorrowful and glorious mysteries). As you know, the same desire had already prompted me to start this separate Biblical Foundations Institute Facebook page to host the Saturday night videos on the Old Testament and the Sunday night videos on the New Testament. Having more than one Facebook page, however, seems to be generating too much confusion for people, causing folks to wonder which page they need to be on to view a particular video broadcast on a particular night especially when it’s a one-shot talk (as was Wednesday’s talk on homosexuality), or a special series, such as the one being launched tonight. In the meantime, I have discovered that one can make several video playlists on one’s Facebook page and sort videos into these topic-specific playlists. This should enable me to adequately organize the various video series so that all the rosary talks will be in one playlist on that page, all the Guéranger talks in another playlist but on that same page, all the Old Testament talks in their own playlist, etc. This will allow people to easily find the videos in a particular series. (Over the next few days I will migrate the existing OT and NT video talks onto my original Gerry Matatics page and therefore eventually close down this separate Biblical Foundations Institute Facebook page, to simplify things.) Therefore simply go, not here, but to my pubic figure Gerry Matatics Facebook page tonight to see the first video broadcast, whether you watch it live at 8:30 pm or view it later at whatever time is more convenient for you. I’ve already begun the process of making separate playlists for each series and hope to have this process completed later this weekend, God willing. GUERANGER Broadcast TONIGHT, Special Topic WEDNESDAY I frequently ask for feedback and suggestions from my Facebook Live broadcast viewers, and am always glad when I receive some. Those who look forward to my Monday night broadcasts (8:30 pm Eastern, as are all my broadcasts on all other nights) on the readings in Dom Guéranger’s "The Liturgical Year" for the preceding week are concerned that if I pre-empt tonight’s regularly scheduled Guéranger broadcast by doing my special ...topic broadcast, we may be hard pressed (given the additional amounts of material in Guéranger during Lent) to cover two weeks of Guéranger next Monday, and as a result will almost certainly once again fall behind, as we often did during Advent and Christmastide. They feel that this would be regrettable, since we’ve been doing such a great job of staying on schedule and completely covering the readings each week since Septuagesima began. This is a legitimate concern. I am therefore going to have our regularly scheduled Guéranger broadcast tonight (Mon, March 6), and move my special topic broadcast to WEDNESDAY (March 8) instead. The added advantage of this is that Wednesday’s series, on "Catholic Social Principles," has no necessary timetable to keep: we simply read and discuss Sr. O’Brien’s book until an hour is up, with no need to cover a prerequisite amount of material, as we need to do in Guéranger each week. This of course means pushing the start of our week’s worth of broadcasts on the first five mysteries of the holy rosary to the very next available broadcasting evening in my schedule, which is this Friday (March 10). So be it. The five talks on the rosary will therefore air on Friday, March 10; Saturday, March 11; Sunday, March 12; Wednesday, March 15; and Friday, March 17. Please notice in the preceding sentence that we will NOT be using next Monday’s (March 13) slot to talk about the rosary, due to the point people have already made above about the inadvisability of ever pre-empting Monday night’s series on Guéranger, as this will make it unlikely that we’ll be able to cover two weeks worth of readings the following week, and will therefore inevitably fall behind.
