Next up for our never ending #collegeweek is 2020 Benjamin Rush School of the Arts Corinne Mundy! Corinne is a freshman at Cedar Creat College, and their season opens this weekend! Corinne has really grown into herself as a pitcher and a teammate. She brings a unique skill set to the table and has the ability to keep even good hitters very uncomfortable. This is another kid who I expect will peak in college...the best is yet to come for her. She is a student of the game, ...which is one of the biggest indicators for me that she continue to get better the more experience she gets. She also has, hands down, the most scientific pitching notebook I’ve ever seen. Which, if you know Corinne & her mom, isn’t the least bit surprising. CORINNE we can’t wait to watch you soar. Next up for the endless #collegeweek is 2018 grad of Springside Chestnut Hill Kayla McTamney! Kayla is a junior at Ursinus College. Kayla’s season begins this coming weekend! Kayla led her HS team to new heights before she graduated and during her freshman season at UC, she stepped up big time. She was an integral part of their post-season run, earning Pitcher of the Week acknowledgements along the way. She was the starting pitcher during the team’s last game of that season... as they battled it out in the Centennial Conference championships. Ursinus Softball hadn’t been to the conference tournament for the previous 7 years. Kayla has that never-give-up ace mentality and we expect her to come back and surprise some people again this spring. But honestly...if you’re surprised, it’s because you don’t know Kayla. Kayla this past year has been a challenge, but we have every faith in you as a leader, a teammate, and a pitcher. Can’t wait to see you in action this season! Taste it, smell it, feel it. Learning to win, in any forum, can be an exciting feeling. Learning to win often leads to loving to win. Do not rush the process.... We often see kids pushed too far, too fast. A neighbor’s kid gets on a national level team, so something must be wrong if my kid isn’t ready for thator the kid is led to believe that something is wrong with her if she does not want that. My love for fishing was developed along a tiny creek on our farm in the mountains of West Virginia. Catching panfish was euphoric. As I grew, that love of fishing took me further and further, to bigger and more exciting fish. I noticed the same pattern with our daughters. We started on bluegill or crappie. As they enjoyed success, they wanted to try for striper or catfish as big as they were. They had to work harder and be more patient to catch the bigger prize, but having tasted success in smaller ways they knew they wanted larger challenges. See it, taste it, feel it, smell it.
