Blair WalkWorks 02.01.2021

Hi everyone! The primary goal of Blair WalkWorks is to keep our community actively engaged with the resources and natural areas we have available to us. It is important for us to know what our audience requests are and we will always communicate that motive as best as we possibly can. With that being said, your feedback is always appreciated. Let us know what you would to see from Blair County! Comment below. Examples could include - More access to off road trails... - Enhancement of natural areas - Online environmental education sessions (featuring speakers such as park managers, naturalists, environmental enthusiasts, etc.) - Online physical education sessions (featuring speakers such as health coaches, nutritionists, fitness/yoga instructors, etc.) - Collaboration with our local state parks for guided tours (tours highlighting tree identification, species identification, bird watching, astronomy, history, etc.) - Bike tours - Public races - Fitness/yoga classes within our state and local parks See more

Good afternoon everyone! I am really excited to introduce one of our local photographers, Alec Nagle, owner of Alec Nagle Photography. He has embraced a lot of historic Blair County locations that highlight our WalkWorks trails. We were fortunate enough to use some of his beautiful images for our page and future projects. Thanks Alec!

Hi everyone! My name is Riley Wiesinger and I am the new Blair County Environmental Health Advocate for Blair County Planning Commission, while interning through Americorps. I am so excited to begin working on some awesome Blair County recreational areas. I will be advocating for the community’s psychical and mental health, while enhancing the environmental spaces within the region. A little about me,... I have been with the Student Conservation Association for 2 years, working on trail work for the State Park system. A few of my favorite State Park that I’ve worked in are Black Moshannon, Ohiopyle, Whipple Dam, Trough Creek, and my hometown favorite, Canoe Creek State Park. During my internship I specialized in trail maintenance, invasive species removal, habitat rehabilitation, and renovation of historic areas. In my free time I love to go hiking, fishing, star gazing, and traveling cross country in my home on wheels. I’ll be actively updating information on our recreational areas within Blair County, especially our WalkWorks trails program. I will keep everyone posted on current and upcoming projects!
