Hosted by the Bulgarian Cultural Center of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware this past weekend, the BMNECC took part in a virtual meeting with more than 20 Bulgarian organizations and groups across North America. Bilyana Stoyanova Stafura and Polina Hristozova shared our 90 years of history, mission, and activities/events. They also highlighted our very own 65 year-old Otets Paissii Performing Folk Ensemble and our accredited Bulgarian School "Otets Paissii. Years ago, ...the late Penka French was given an interview by and shared her story with Dilyana Ivanova, Ph.D., ARCA Chief AdministratorPh.D., ARCS Chief Administrator; ethnologist and author of the ARCS Series Volume III monograph, Memories of Everyday Life during Socialism in the Town of Rousse, Bulgaria. This weekend would have been our second attempt to celebrate 90 YEARS of the BMNECC with an Anniversary Gala, a 2-hour performance by Otets Paissii Performing Ensemble and special guests, followed by the well-known party of good food, drinks, music and people, and a closing Sunday luncheon to bid farewell until our next milestone. We have not stopped the energy and positivity to one day bring that celebration alive weekly rehearsals, continuous planning and preparation, dedication from the BMNECC board and Otets Paissii directors, and the ongoing support of people like YOU our friends, family and communities.
