TRUNK OR TREAT The Old Forge Fire Department will be holding our annual Trun...k or Treat celebration on Sunday, October 31st from 11 A.M to 2 P.M. The event will take place at the Eagle McClure Hose Co. at 375 Milwaukee Ave. Last years event saw in excess of 1000 children! It’s a great way to not only advertise your business but to participate in a community event with your local fire department. For those businesses interested in participating, there are several spots still open for you to decorate your vehicle and pass out treats to the children. There is no fee to participate your only cost is decorations for your vehicle and treats for the children. You may email [email protected] to secure a spot. A reminder to all residents: It is against the law in the borough to throw snow into the street. The DPW crew is out working hard to keep our streets as clean as possible and drivable. Please do not make their hard work go wasted. Violators of this ordinance will be fined. ... Stay safe!

Garbage Pickup will be delayed this week due to the impending Winter Storm. Garbage will be picked up this week on Wednesday, February 3. Recycling pickup will also be pushed back one day.

The National Weather Service is calling for heavy snow to start between 2-4 p.m. today. They are predicting a possible 2-3 inches per hour into the evening hours with the storm slowing overnight. The snow event should end between 8-11 am on Thursday. The NWS is forecasting a 90 percent chance of the Old Forge area receiving a minimum of 13 inches of snow with a 10 percent chance of up to 24 inches being dumped in NEPA. The Borough is asking all residents to please limit trave...l during this time if at all possible. Crews will be out plowing late afternoon/early evening and into the night. Please be patient as snow is predicted to fall at a fast pace. Thank you in advance for your patience. Everyone stay safe!

We are reminding residence's with the large amount of snow fall coming over the next 24hrs. We kindly ask that you clear a path to and around a fire hydrant if ...you have one on your property or near your property. It will mean a great deal to the fire department in case there is emergency and they need to gain access to the hydrant. Also, we remind residence's it is illegal to throw snow into the roadway of passing vehicles.

The Borough of Old Forge is currently in the midst of a major renovation project at the Borough Building. During this time, the offices will remain open in the area of the upstairs senior center. However, we ask that the public please call the office first at 570-457-8852 before visiting. If you need to speak with a police officer for a report or a NON-EMERGENCY matter, please call 570-342-9111 and ask to speak with an Old Forge Police Officer. Your information will be taken... and an officer will call you back. Or you may email [email protected]. Again, this is for non-emergencies. If you have an emergency, call 911 immediately. As a reminder, the polling places that were housed at the Borough Building will be moved to the Eagle McClure Hose Co. on Milwaukee Avenue for the November 3 General Election.
