It doesn't take much to entertain me...I just discovered that there is a whole chapter on indexing in the 2nd edition of "The LaTeX Companion," a really thick book I bought years ago but never really looked at. A whole other world has opened up for me! My goal now is to become the LaTeX indexing expert, in addition to learning the ins and outs of my professional indexing software, Macrex, and the craft of indexing.

Indexing is not just for the backs of nonfiction books. Did you know you can (and maybe should) index annual reports, newspapers, journals, historical documents, photos and other multimedia, websites, newsletters, etc. The purpose of indexing is to make information accessible to the user, and information is found in a variety of media.
