What better time is there than the beginning of a new year to consider the question of identity and how we become who we are in the world? Fittingly, a lot of the great new titles coming out this month share that same theme. Check some of these out, available now or coming soon!

With remote learning continuing for the foreseeable future, it is imperative that households with school-age children have reliable Internet access. Because of this, CLP is piloting a hotspot lending program for Allegheny County students. (Previously, only City of Pittsburgh residents and families with K-12 children were eligible.) Through this program, parents, guardians and caregivers living in Allegheny County with at least one student in their household are eligible to b...orrow a hotspot through the end of the 2020-2021 school year without a library card. This includes college students and people enrolled in career training programs. Interested community members can apply for a hotspot by: Calling 412-622-3114 Texting 412-775-3900 or Chatting through the chat widget at www.carnegielibrary.org

Have you ever wondered about what kind of information exists in the public record for anyone to access? What kind of information are you as a member of the public entitled to, and how can you make your own requests under Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know law? Next Wednesday, November 18th, from 6:30-8:00 PM, this virtual session on How to Be a More Engaged Citizen, presented for free through the generous support of the Jefferson Regional Foundation by PublicSource and Brentwood Li...brary, can help to answer all these questions and more with regards to navigating and accessing public information, and using it to make changes in your own city or neighborhood! If interested, register at the link below, and information about the session will be sent to you online! We hope to see you there! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/how-to-be-a-more-engaged-citiz
