Celebrating my 60th birthday this weekend with family! This newer seafood restaurant is only 10 minutes from the Brownstone and has excellent reviews! Their lobster dip is to die for, and their sushi wraps are excellent, as well as their crab cakes (which is what I ordered)!

Today marked the second time this summer that some girlfriends and I went hiking at nearby Nolde Forest. Nolde Forest and Environmental Center encompasses more than 725 acres of deciduous woodlands and coniferous plantations. A network of trails makes the center’s streams, ponds, and diverse habitats accessible to both students and visitors. Nolde is about 20 minutes from the Brownstone!

Check out this cute couple! These guests, dressed for the occasion, came to attend the Renaissance fair in Mount Hope, Lebanon County! Sarah fits the part of the fair maiden perfectly! PA Renaissance fair festival is open Saturdays and Sundays, 11 AM to 8 PM, through October 31. Check it out!

Yesterday was such a beautiful, picture perfect, blue sky autumn day. Spent the afternoon hiking with some girlfriends at Middle Creek, followed by a campfire in our backyard!

Take me out to the ball game! A calm, clear, and cool evening for baseball with the Lancaster Barnstormers, an Atlantic League Professional baseball team about 25 minutes from the Brownstone!

If you’ve stayed with or visited us here at the Brownstone, you probably know that we always seem to have a project going on in this old house! Well, we’ve taken on the biggest project to date by removing some walls and joining the main original stone structure to a totally renovated apartment area. I cannot believe I didn’t take a before picture, other than this one of the rec room after a wind storm went through! it had a flat tin leaky roof. Here you can see some st...ep-by-step changes being worked on since last November. I cannot say enough good things about these two Amish Mennonite young men at Spring Ridge Builders doing the main renovations: their hard work ethic and inborn knowledge of construction! Not to mention reasonable rates! After taking about a month off, due to snow and cold weather and allowing us time to catch up with painting, they started putting the siding on about two weeks ago. The outside is almost finished, except for the portico area where our mason will work on a brick stoop with big wood-beam pillars.

Last Sunday Mark and I strolled the sidewalks of Lititz with some friends, to check out the ice sculptures before they likely melted in the warmer weather this week! This year, because of Covid, they weren’t sculpted here, but rather were brought in.

Spent some time visiting the neighboring dairy farm called Scattered Acres, along with a couple recent guests! This farm houses and milks about 700 head of cows daily; also, about three new calves are born here each day! We can call ahead to schedule your own personal tour while staying with us at the Brownstone!

Another snow event! Another 8 inches on the ground! And another adventure in the ‘ole blue pick up, this time to the Udder Choice Creamery in Ephrata and a quick stop at Paul B Hardware, which has the best selection of nuts and bolts and anything hardware!
