Kate Thomas has been an outstanding influence in her career and in her #community. Here is her story from what she learned from coaching the next generation of strong women for #WomensHistoryMonth. "Growing up, I was always very involved with sports. As a student-athlete, I had the privilege of learning from coaches who taught me life lessons that I carry with me to this day. My coaches showed me how to win and lose gracefully and how to be a team player. After college, I fo...und myself wanting to give back what I had learned in the form of becoming a coach myself. Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School provided me the opportunity to assist the varsity team and head coach the JV team. Through coaching, I met young, amazing girls who had the drive and passion for excelling on the court and in the classroom. Being a coach allowed me to teach them the little things about basketball I’ve used throughout life beyond sports. My favorite games were the ones where my team had to rise to a challenge, down at half-time. When the team pushed through challenging circumstances and came out with a win, they walked away from the game with more than a winning scoreboard - they walked away with each other. As the comeback started, they were not thinking of the little mistakes they made in the first half; instead, their gut instincts kicked in, and they relied on their teammates. I carry these irreplaceable memories with me throughout my professional career. I hope the girls I coached learned that in a world where it’s easy to tear down other women, you gain grit, perseverance, confidence, and respect when you build each other up. Women have the challenge of keeping their competitive spirit while choosing to be kind in a world of comparison. Women need to continue to work hard to challenge the status quo in the face of adversity. With teamwork, anything is possible, and women must commit to stick together & build each other up!" #ChooseToChallenge

Our Director of Marketing & Communication, Corinne Kavounas, is an example of that influence and impact. She not only inspires those around her but looks for inspiration in others. ...
